I'm thinking of doing a crystal chamber in my next saber, but this would be a new concept for me. As some of you have extensive experience in this area, what is a good LED to use for a crystal chamber? Also, are there any new ideas on a crystal chassis?

You don't have to use a LED.;)

Good point, Sunrider. Maybe I should also ask for cheap, easy to acquire and install ( I am a dumb grunt, so I mean REAL easy to install), and durable alternative lighting methods. Other than the previously linked thread above.

I would check out ebay and look into getting some HB accent leds 3-5mm type (whatever your need is)

You might check out PLCC package LEDs. The higher output 20ma 3.5 x 2.8 mm are very efficient and easy to use (no thermal pad). Most have thermal pads above this ma rating.

What type of hilt (MHS/Sinktube/PVC) are you planning on using? that will effect how you build it.

I preferr to use a 5mm LED with the Bezel, and mount it onto a 1" washer.
how I secure it to the hilt depends on the style...

Using the windowed MHS extension. Thinking about mounting it on a spare MHS heatsink with a hole through the center. Read that on here some time earlier. Seemed pretty straight, so hope it works.

That's what I would do, but a washer with some 6-32 threaded rods will work too.

Well cardcollector, after that last post I checked out your Lightning Strike". I really like the chamber you did on that one. I may try to go in a similar direction. I want something very dual-worthy and I think I can anchor that in pretty tight. Thanks.

I wouldn't cut out the windows like that...
Because this will happen

I now only do one windowed cutout on sinktubes...
That's about all they can handle.

BTW I didn't come up with that idea. Obi-dar did. So thank him as well.;)

Ouch. Well, now you have extra parts and that means a new lightsaber. You know when god gives you lemons, get a new god.
