So I’m thinking about attaching some 1” wide aluminum grips to a graflex saber (yes I know 1” is pretty wide). So given the contour of the graflex body and the width of each grip, I’m thinking about using either acrylic or rubber buffers between the hilt and the grip (like an Oreo cookie). I’m debating using Acrylic, because I was thinking about milling out small slots in the middle of each grip and using an acrylic (florescent) buffer to shin through the milled slot; however I’m not sure if 1. They make soft acrylic and 2. If hard normal acrylic sheet will just crack under the pressure. Any suggestions?

I don't believe there's such a thing as soft acrylic.

Acrylic is quite brittle, not an ideal shim material.

Better rethink your idea.

I was afraid of that, thanks anyway.
