Hey guys was wanting to know what the 3rd prong on this LED is for? When I hook it to a power supply using the middle (pos) and one side (neg) it will cycle through all the blinking colors and then just stop, didn't know if this 3rd prong has something to do with it? or what it is for?

can you link to the actualy part you bought?

there are several 3 pin kind of accent LED's..

the one I have is 1 leg is +... 1 leg is -..and the 3 leg is the MODE pin.. if you tollge a GND to the pin you can cycle through the colors.. getting to the last one..where it will set it to 'beacon mode'..where it flashes through all colors automatically.
