Just some info for ya...

I'm pretty sure that Mara Jade grips are wider than 1/4" (.25) and less than 3/8". They are probably somewhere around 5/16" wide but don't quote me on that. I have not found anyplace online that sells thin metal flat bars in a width between 1/4" and 3/8". So, if the bars are indeed wider than 1/4", this means that the bars used on the Mara Jade saber were either custom machined, made from a mold or are of a metric size not available in the U.S.

You may not be able to find aluminum flat bars less than .5" wide so good luck on that one. Brass in a .25" width is common. Aluminum, not so much.

A 6-32 button head screw is .25 inches at it's widest and would not look good on a bar that is of the same width. Of course you could always use 4-40 screws on a .25" bar to overcome that.

You are most likely not going to find aluminum strip in that size. You can get brass strip in .064" x .25" (K&S brand from almost any hobby store). You are going to have to get them made for you if you want that size.

Funny thing is Spaz asked a similar question last year DJ about where to get metal grip strips although no specific sizing was mentioned. He got many answers from the members back then.

Here is a aluminum bar. 1/4" wide. 1/8" thick (yes, a bit more than you wanted, but it would be more like a grip this way IMO). It even comes with pre-rounded off edges. All of 5 minutes to find it, BTW.

Thanks for the link LM. I didn't even know McMaster-Carr sold metal.

I dug around their site and found another option that may work. The bars might be a bit too wide though, even on a 1.5 O.D. They are 3mm thick (a little bit under 1/8") and 10mm wide (a hair under 3/8"). The edges are not rounded on these ones.
