this is just an artistic thought that popped into my head earlier.

I just think it would be cool if you could make lightsabers that are a departure from the Star Wars universe but still being a lightsaber from Star Wars, y'know?

First idea was a Stargate saber. Sort of gunmetalish and gray with gold and silver semi-circles and one segment of it be a pearlescent purple like a Goa'uld staff weapon or zat gun. Orange blade.

then I got to thinking about Star Trek sabers. Maybe a light to medium gray or beige saber with very clean lines and ovoid buttons - a Federation saber if you will. Blue blade.

A Romulan saber would be all green (obviously) with darker green highlights. Green blade.

A Klingon saber would be either olive green, patina copper or dark red with black and rust weathering with gold highlights. It should also have some kind of spikeage on it. Red blade.

Serenity; no-brainer, Mal's gun. Heavily weathered or oil-rubbed brass. Light blue blade.

In the first image, is that penlid?
What is it with Sci-Fi and penlids :D

Anyway, Id like to see what you come up with.

It's not a pen cap, that would be too small.

It does kind of look like one, though. :p

I think the front emitter part of the zat gun there is supposed to be kind of like an Egyptian hieroglyph like the eye of Ra or the bill of Thoth.

And the Jaffa need something to hold it to their belt or baldric.

Actually, the Jaffa usually have it clipped to a bracer, whereas SG-1, when they field them, have custom-made holsters and wear them on their hips, replacing their regular sidearms.

You are absolutely correct Kant.

anyway... Come to think of it, I think the majority of Jaffa carry the zat on their wrists.

on the Goa'uld saber, here's a better example of the semi-circles featured in their architecture and armor:

(it's below the big-screen on the left. Just a lot fewer circles. It's almost as if they took that from the SG-1 set.)

Sounds like an interesting prospect importing design ideas from one sci-fi universe to another and could product some interesting results.

Though I am also a Trekkie. Hell, I'm a fan of just about anything sci-fi - books, TV, movies, games... I'd write down all the universes I've played in but I'm afraid that I'll break the boards if I do so. :-P
