I want to put a LED bar graph indicator on my hilt for decoration, the trouble is I have no idea how to connect it or if I need any other bits and peices. I have the LED bar graph and the Display Driver (part LM3914). Does anyone know if it is possible to put it on the hilt and if so how to wire it up. By the looks of the parts I will need a piece of circuit board. Is this so?

Thanks

Try using the search function and you will find a circuit to drive the 7 led bargraph that I posted for another person.

Thanks Do-Clo

I found the circuit diagram, but I am a complete beginner when it comes to circuit diagrams and don't understand them. If you know where I can get an explanation that breaks it down into "the red wire goes here and the black one goes there" I would be greatful.

Sorry for being dense

Thanks Gforce13,

I am the type of person that likes to try to do it for himself, if possible. But what usually happens is I destroy a bag full of bits, then read the instructions, and in the end decide I could have saved myself a fortune by buying one ready made. If you know what I mean. Must be a man thing.

Corbin has a website?

Sorry Sid I really don't have a step by step on that one, if you connect all of the positive leads of the led bar graph together and the negative leads together then you could wire it as 1 led and all of them would light up.

I totally understand when I was building my first El, I was going to do everything from scratch but then I found this site and since I don't have access to a Mill or Lathe, it was a lot easier buying the Emitters here. [8D]
Yes he does just use this link: http://www.corbinscomponents.com/[:)]

Thanks,

Ready made bits are cheaper than buying a lathe. Will check out the website.
