I showed the beginning of this saber in another thread as I wanted to know if the parts I brought would work.

So here is what I have so far.

Blade Holder 17
3inch Fluted
Choke Style 4
4inch Fluted
Pommel Style 8 (modified)
MPS Insert with 16mm hole
Blue Illuminated AV Switch
MR Luke sound
3w Prolite RGB.
TCSS Speaker/Battery Combo
Brass covertec button
12inch sink tube

As you can see from the photos, the first thing I have really done is sort out the wiring but I also drilled extra holes in the heatsink as four wires need to exit through the bottom.

Beacause I tried polishing a piece beforehand I knew I had to polish this length of sink tube before cutting. I had one dilemma, I had no idea how to polish.
Fortunately my GF's dad is an ex tool maker and knows a thing or two. So he told me to rub the chrome off with a high grade emery cloth, which I did until the brass came through, then I ran some 400 wet and dry over it with some wd40 (to keep it smooth) and finally with some 1200 wet n dry and more wd40. As you can see it turned out pretty good.

Because of my choice of switch placement I needed to have the pommel modified to allow sound to escape. I drew the measurements on a bit of masking tape, marked out the holes and drilled.

The next thing I needed to do was draw up the plans for the shroud. I based my design on the dooku saber as well as marking out the curve of the blade holder. This bit of the shroud will sit 1cm below the top, adding a layered look.

And that's it so far. When I have more time to work in the shop i'll post another update.

thats about to be some hotness. I have always been a huge fan of the teardrop choke in the center of the saber.

Hope so DJ, hope so.

I've done the main cutout but need to do some filing, drill holes for the CT wheel and set screws and then polish it again.

Here is the cut out as is

I'm also thinking I need something else, maybe some black pc in the fluted bits?????

I'd almost think some Chrome PC would look pretty good, too.

Ok so here is a little update of my Cal Marr saber.

Due to work I've not done anything with this and since I had put it to one side because I got frustrated with my choice of switch placement I sent the whole lot of to my friend for some color and to finish.

I've had him anodize the main hilt to black and this is what we've got.

i like this, i was sad when the build seemed to peter out a bit. Might i make a request that you show how you wired up your prolight when you get to that point? :D

Yeah so was I.

I'm no longer going with a prolite RGB it's going to be a cyan led. I don't have a blue yet and this will be a jedi saber.

The RGB's aren't difficult to wire though, Rhyen and Matt have both done comprehensive schematics for wiring RGB's.

This will be done soon and up in the gallery.

How is that MR board setup done?
I can't see very well in the first pic, but it looks like its in a battery holder or something?

Glad to see you back on track with this one. The black is a nice touch. I wasn't crazy about the overlay or how it looked as brass on aluminum in this case, but your MHS choice is really nice and the black will probably make the overlay look better. Looking forward to seeing this for sure.

That is the housing they come in originally. The one in the FX saber.

*edit*

oops, nevermind, was thinking of a different thread... after looking, i'm not so sure anymore.

Yeah once I had the overlay done, I realised the two wouldn't look as good as I thought. I has some black anodizing done on my other saber at it looks excellent, so I decided to get it done for this one also.

Funny thing is I'd done this before Tim started offering MHS sleeve, which would have looked much better with a gold anodizing.

Don't doubt yourself Shad, you're spot on. I've just cut it down so it sits snug in the MHS. The fact that it screws in appeals as I know the board won't move and touch the hilt at all.

Would you mind elaborating on how you did that?

Sure. I unscrewed the board from the sled. and cut it down bit by bit with a stanley knife (cutting open my thumb in the process, so be careful when doing this), until it sat nicely in the MHS.

To be honest, when I saw the first post, I thought, "Meh." But I just looked at the photos you put up in the gallery. Whoa! That became this!? Lesson learned: Never underestimate the potential of ordinary materials in extraordinary hands.

Ha ha ha.

I know what you mean, but that's what happens when you make a visualisation a realisation, which I'd never have done on my own.

Still I didn't think it'd be quite so nice though. Cudos to Daren

Pleased as punch.
