Some of you have been following and commenting on my "ad nauseum" build thread under the MHS sub-forum: Here (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=8864)

I've decided that since the basic physical hilt build is complete I'd move to this thread under Gallery.

I've named her "Axiom" -- I hope you enjoy.

I still have some minor pain touchups to do and I need to assemble and install the electronics:

LUX 5 -- green and US 2.5

I think the red thumb screws look out of place. Maybe switch to plain metal ones IMO.
the rest of the saber looks great :D

Thanks for the input :) -- Perhaps I'll refinish the "knobs". Any color suggestions? Brass or shiny copper maybe? Simple black?

I would go black or silver knobs but, with some interesting washers if you can. And perhaps to different style knobs, just a humble suggestion.
Awesome Saber sir.

perhaps use some brass to match all off your other brass screws. maybe you could put the brass or copper caps from TCSS over the red part, but idk how big they are or if they would fit. that is some pretty intricate and detailed overlay work, i give it an A+++

Thank you very much! You are all too kind :D

I put together another image that I thought was pretty cool: From the design image I started with to the completed hilt.

Nice hilt. I'm not a fine of copper tones (the colors, not the lotions), but still, it looks pretty cool.

And yet you still know nothing.

Eth The saber looks great, I am not a big fan of the 2 red thumbscrews eather, Maybe a finished washer and cap screw like jonitus used on a grevius obi rots mhs.

Very nice saber. I agree with Sid. I think finishing washers with cap screws would look great. I would go with brass washers and black screws. Nice job.

[QUOTE=Hasid Lafre;146172]And yet you still know nothing.

Ouch. Harsh but fair.

But lets not detract from the saber. This is a great example of a plan followed through.

Like some of the others I'm not a fan of the buttons, I feel they would be nicer metalic red (unless it a bad photo), silver/chrome or black.

Great build generally.

To reflect rhyen I would try to find some brass cap screws, it think the brass on copper with the silver would look very nice. Or with a little darker look maybe some more black so black finish washers with the black cap screws would look sharp.

Looks great, I'm glad it turned out. Might I suggest adding some weathering to the shroud.

Well done! I too, would consider replacing the red acetal knobs with something in brass, but then, I'm kind of partial to all things brass anyway.

Actually the pix don't do it justice -- it's an aged copper metallic.

I need to work on my photographic techniques a bit ;)

Great minds... I was considering how to do it as weathered is exactly the effect I'm looking for.

Hey BTW, Thanks again for fixing my early rendering!!!

That's high praise -- Thank you very much :)

I agree with everyone about the "knobs" -- the bright red just doesn't work -- so I'f tracked down and ordered these:

They are to my liking -- at least from the picture :)

BTW, the constructive comments here are awesome!!!

No prob, There are many ways to weather, there is the painting method, oil meathod, and many others. Painting is preaty easy, just slap around some black model paint and sand it till it looks the way you want.

Personaly i think you should have keep the red knobs. It just adds flair.

Jonitus is IMO the master with weathering.

I actually preferred the red. Gave the hilt a very '70's Sci-Fi' look. That sort of thing is kinda the reason we're all here, right?

That's kinda what I was thinking. Looked like it would be in an old star wars comic. Looks cool though. Especially with the black knobs.

That is a thing of beauty. I agree though, you should switch the red knobs to silver

Here's what I decided on in terms of the "knobs" -- black with brass finishing washers.

I'll snap some better photos for the permanent gallery when I remember how to use my camera  -- but for now enjoy.

Axiom lives. It's been ummm... Educational to say the least. The next one will go smoother I'm sure. Who knew the internals were going to be the beast of the work.

OBTW, the Lux V is really quite bright actually, my camera's flash + settings totally toned down the brightness in the whole-saber shot on my dining table -- again, need to figure out my camera's settings (again).

Anyway...

DJ, Thanks much for the complement :D

I should really pass along the thanks and credit to all the folks here on TCSS forums though. Just standing on the shoulders of giants.

I'm looking forward to going full-force (pun intended) on my next saber "Brethren". I think the overall design of it is a bit more understated. What I'm REALLY looking forward to is having another go at doing the internals and making that phase go a lot smoother.

I've already got 3 more sabers in the planning stages too. YAY!

dont we all. i have my senior project 10 saber coming up. a thank you saber fully customed machined for thaxos in my second trimester and then my seoul P5 purple mixed oversized crystal chamber saber on my third trimester of school. i have some serious saber building to do. lol

Very impressive...especially for a 1st build. It seems to be an unusual choice to put the switch box on the bottom but it all looks great and if that's where it suit you then awesome.

The blade looks a bit shorter then average. What are the measurements?

Good choice on the button change.

Thanks :) I guess the switch box position is relative -- When I did the horizontal shots of the hilt -- and the original concept image -- I wasn't really meaning that to be the bottom as you'd hold it. As I recall I created the image this way so I could include the "knobs". When I wield the saber the switch box is actually on the top.

As for the blade -- I'll assume you don't mean the little stubby job I have in many of the final pictures ;) The _actual_ blade is 32 inches -- about 31 (including the tip) beyond the hilt. Which I guess is somewhat shorter than a lot of the sabers. I wanted mine about the length of the blade on the MR customizable sabers I have -- they're ~30 inches.
