I like it a lot for some reason. I think it needs one of those boxes Tim sells along with one of the anitvandel switches but thats only if I keep it.

It has a Luke ANH sound board, cree xre blue, two blinkies (red and green...I wanted the green to be solid but all of my solid 3mm greens were yellow looking when lit) 7.4 li battery pack (I made with a PCB) and 6V regulator. Originally I made it just the 3.7 battery pack in parallel but the current was too low on that voltage and I wasn't happy with the blade brightness.

I powder coated the main section and blade holder with flat black and the choke with translucent copper. I am happy color of the copper but I had a couple of little pieces of black specks (probably a little left over from where I did the other part) so am a little upset about that and will probably have to redo it.

anyway here are just a couple of pics. I may take a video later or tomorrow.

Man, that's some awesome shiny goodness!

Nice job on the polishing, and nice job on the saber. That's a very aesthetically pleasing saber.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really appreciate them.

Here is a quick video I shot of it. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1jsfJlsPN8)

cheap camera and poor lighting but you can see the blade and the blinking LEDs.

To avoid possible copyright infringement in photos and vids? LDM does that, too.

I decided to measure the current with the 6V going to the board.

I was a little surprised to see it reading at around 1500mA. Hopefully that doesnt shorten the life of the XRE too much considering it is listed at 1000mA max.

here is a pic of the current reading...

The voltage is right there with the specs (typical 3.7v) at 3.46.

I am wondering if my cheap radioshack dmm is faulty since it was reading 750mA on a 616 board a while back and now 1500 on the Luke board.

My Fluke is broken though but I have another DMM I can use and may try later just to verify.

Your reading on that board is correct...the extra current is from the 4th battery. If you were to remove one and replace it with a jumper wire and then check it, it will have much less current, probably around 900ma or so. A member of the FX-Saber forums metered several different MR boards with varying battery solutions and the 4-AA battery driven boards were putting out 1200ma-1500ma each. I have P4's in several of my MR-powered sabers that use 4-aa packs, and have not had any trouble with them blowing out....yet. ;)
EDIT:
Here's that topic I mentioned- http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=13978.0

Why is the "6" backward on your meter display with the current reading?

Interesting, I hadn't read that post because I never had a reason to research it. I just always though they were around 1000, 1200 max from reading in posts here and there.

I thought that was cool lol. I caught it while it was flipping from 3 to 2 I think.

yeah I know PC'ing over different bases can given differen outcomes..even polishing a part before doing a trans or chrome/silver color can change the effect.

I dont see it offered at Eastwood though.. kaka.. I did see a 'Candy Orange' though?

I need a few more 'cups'.... and need some 'pre' spray.. (love that stuff)..

unless you knwo of another place that sells the Trans Copper and has empty gun cups as well? I didnt see any cups at PBTP.. :(
