Although I still need to put grip material on my graflex, I have already started working on my first really custom saber using sink tubes.

Thus far, the materials selected are as follows:

1 x 1 1/4 sinktube for innards
1 x 1.5 sinktube for outtards
1 x Lux III red
1 x resistor for above
1 x 1.5a diode
1 x dpdt swich
1 x joe jedi sound board
1 x 4AAA battery holder
1 x red knob
1 x 1 1/4 blade holder with reducer
1 x end cap to serve as a temporary pommel
1 x 1ohm speaker (for now) from radio shack that has surprisingly good quality.
1 x aluminum covertec knob (if I can find what I did with it) and clip (again if I can find what I did with it)

I was going to try and do a crystal chamber but will opt out on this design and wait for my first mhs build.

As an avid Monkey Island fan (seriously J-Lo, go play some Monkey Island!!) I've named this one, at least for now, Le Chuck.

To do:

Fix some areas around the emitter, plot some connection points to mount the outter tube to the innard, place the switch, figure out the grip section (really wanted to do some sort of ribbed area but can't find like good pvc or tubing of sorts around home depot or lowes for this. More soldering :)

For a sort of look at what I'm going for is

http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp123/ThreeQuadFive/LeChuck/SaberBuilder_render.png

only with a 1.5 overlay and custom cut outs.

I am thinking of doing some black (if I can find it) pool hose over the middle grip section where I cut out a slot for a dpdt switch.

This build is getting interesting!

The JoeJedi board I received is a dud, and while working on a refund managed to snag a used but good condition yoda which I will be using in parts (mainly sound).

Pics and updates soon!

if you turn OFF thread hints in teh MHS Builder...your renders will look alot better!

It looks like he turned off the "Snap-To" prematurely. His blade holder is misaligned. :p

LOL pay no detailed attention to the render.

a)it was a quick job to give the gist of the design
b) design is now changing thanks to the recent purchase of a yoda hilt

Update: Yoda FX saber came i this morning.
I already promised my car I'd work on the new bumper today but tomorrow I will start converting it to a red lux III and gutting the innards for the new saber :-D

Here is an update of the components fitting together.

Still a lot of work to do. Need to buff some stuff out, recut some grooves, etc.

Also need to put some sort of railing in the mid section there to allow for better grip and integrity.

Still need to add the yoda switch cover and buff out some scuff marks and such.

Contemplating getting a new 1.5'' sinktube and starting the outter portion over again.
Got a screw stuck in the thing, and the retention screw hole is out of line and causes the rest of the saber to be crooked.

I'd hate to start over but...want this to look good?

Another quick update:

Cover is on.

Still need to put the grip material on for the mid section and then start using my dremel to fix some things on it and she should be done!

Ok, so I thought about a few things and have some more ideas (of course, lol).

For the top cover, I'm going to shorten the sides so that you get a .5 inch gap (probably smaller on either side) to see through in. Going to somehow try and mount the impact sensor (got the replacement, THANKS AMBO) with a bit of velcro..just enough so it doesn't show but sits in place as to not fall out the side..or just somehow wrap wiring around a rod or something, we'll see.

Anywho, for the interior guts, thinking about drilling a small hole in the center of the heat sink, and then threading a rod in there. Attach that rod to a crystal chasis I am working on, and then tap the + and - leads on the LED end to power up the super bright LED which is sitting inside a red acrylic crystal I melted out the of.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Updates!

- Added grips (pleather_
- Added crystal chamber w/red LED backlighting (weak but does the trick)
- Finished blade
- Did some more cutting, sanding, etc

To do:
- Some etching
- New 8-32 button head screw in place of the black one up top (not big enough and the holder keeps moving all over)
- Find a sith to smack around
- Lost my switch cover *tear*

Crystal chamber:
