I am trying to build a hardware lightsaber, I have the 1 1/2" tube for the hilt and I even have a length of spray painted PVC that screws in for the blade. However I am wondering about thumb screws and hex nuts if I put them on the hilt to use as buttons is it going to impede me being able to put the blade in? I am not very familiar with all the various hardware parts and how they work I only know of basic nuts and bolts and in order to put a bolt into something it has to scew into a nut, which is supposed to be on the other side. I hope that this makes some sense. Please let me know.

I have used various sights to get ideas but after years of trying I am getting burned out, I have seen many various parts in hardware stores some I have bought and they did not work so some of the reasons that my saber is not done is because I do not know what works and do not want to keep accumilating a bunch of useless parts. I have always had a facination with building things but all of the things I have built have come with instructions.

Thanks

Hi,

Welcome aboard. Honestly the best place to start is with absorbing as much information from some key threads on this board.

Let me point you where to start:
Some basics on the types of sabers and components please read all here.

Also, here is a build thread on a PVC saber that may help:
