Hello all,
For my next saber project I want to use rechargeable batteries. I have read the forum topics on several sites about how many and how to hook them up, but I dont know what kind of charger to use. Are there rules or formulas or something to determine the correct charger for my batteries? Before you ask I have not bought anything (batteries or charger) yet because I dont want to get things that might be incompatable. Any help would be appreciated.

A small wall transformer with a dc output of around 9-10 volts at about 100 ma would work well iwill give a good charge on the battery pack without causing excessive heat being generated.

It all depends on how fast you want to recharge, and then, do you want to worry about damaging the batteries. Of course, it also depends on your budget.

For starters, get NiMH batteries. But if money is (almost) no object, then get a LiIon or LiPol pack - very $$$$ though. The chargers for those are alse pretty pricey.

You could spend a few bucks and get a cheap over-night charger, that will keep charging until you unplug it. If you forget, you cook the batteries.

Or, spend more to get a hobby charger, that will peak detect your pack, and when finished, automatically switch to trickle charge/maintenance charge. These chargers will also charge your small pack in 15-45 minutes. These fancier chargers will (usually) also detect the voltage automatically.

Do-Clo, am i to understand that you had trouble with the whole toilet seat business early on? You seem to have brough this up a bit lately. Granted my Hottie did take a while to forgive me when i slipped up, but growing up with sisters i made it a habit to close the seat and lid. By the time the boys all had thier own bathroom the lid closing had other applications, but perhaps potty humor should be discussed elsewhere.

The seat deal is just something you learn in marriage if you want to be happy, it was a gesture to pass on this knowledge to others who may be struggling with the wife over this, but hey you guys are on your own, the subject will not arise again.

I guess its also way to much for a simple answer w/o sarcasm here. You don't have many friends do you? Doesn't surprise me....

The problem is last time I went they don't have generic chargers anymore. They have the iSomething... the problem is they make you buy each tip because it, not the brick, controls the voltage.[:(!]
