Hey everyone!

First, I want to say thanks. I haven't been a member very long here, but I have browsed the site here for a good couple of weeks before I hit the Register button. From that time to now, I've seen alot of cool projects, saber concepts, and tutorials. And of course, can't forget the awesome sabers you guys have made; they were a huge inspiration for me.

So anyways, my birthday was a few days ago, so about a week before I decided to order my parts and put my first (working) saber together. I got the box the morn of my birthday, so I ran downstairs and got to work, using borrowed tools to turn a few pieces of sink-tube, a polyC blade, and a bright blue LED into a saber I carried everywhere I went for the next 2 days.

Here's the list of parts for the saber:

Hilt:
- 12" 1.25" Sink Tube Extension Tube
- 2 6" 1.5" Sink Tubes
- 2 Big Clear Washers that fit snuggly on the 1.25" tube and was linked to the 1.5"
- A Screw-cap thingy (Don't know the name for it...)
- 1 Wal-mart Windshield-Wiper Blade for the grips
- 1.25" Sink Tube Blade holder

Electronics:
- An old Hasbro economy board from an old Christmas present (It's in a better place now)
- The Luxeon III / Seoul P4 Electronics Kit with a red button and Seoul Blue LED
- A 36" TCSS-Style Battle Blade (This thing is tough!)

Misc Stuff:
- A small speaker (Other one died for some reason)
- 22-Gauge Wire
- 8/32 Drill Bit and Tap
- Tap Wrench
- Glue/Epoxy
- Solder
- Soldering Iron
- Much, much more stuff...

I learned alot from this project, especially about working with tools... Haha, anyways, this is hopefully the first of many sabers I'll make.

Here's a video I just finished for some friends:

Note: Ignore the narration... I over explain and get things wrong, but some friends are really curious about the saber stuff.

Haha, I was going to take them, but the grips ended up falling off. :(

I'm going to get something to put them back on. Hopefully after that, I'll be able to get some cool ones up. :D

EDIT: Pictures now up. :D

Interesting 1st try, good design , may I suggest using a sink drain screen or some screen door material for the speaker cover with an o-ring to hold it in and some model cement to stick the grips on better.

Haha, that is a good idea. The original speaker fit perfectly inside, so i didn't cover it (yeah... that was set up for failure). When I had to replace it, the speaker was alot smaller, so I cut up a piece of cardboard for a temporary.

I tried using some clay-like stuff, but it didn't hold up... super glue is what held in the end, but it looks bad... haha. Thanks though, those are great ideas. I'll keep them in mind with my next saber.

Nice 1st saber. Now that you have the first sink tube saber under your belt, I bet you can't wait to make a MHS saber can you? Nice job.

This thread really doesn't belong here. It should be in the Gallery.
