Hey, been reading for awhile now and finally decided to get off my butt and start a project.

My first saber's going to be an exhaust pipe/sink tube hybrid

Just the shell is fit together right now while I wait for my order to come in.

A little more about me can be found in the welcome section.

That's a very cool looking piece of tubing to use as a lightsaber hilt.

I wonder why nobody has thought of it before?

Why do i see a red blade, and the grooves worked on to make a rib cage?

Same here, that will be an interesting alternative to the standard sink tubes:D:cool:

A very nice start. I actually had a friend a few weeks back bend me a bit of sink tube to almost that exact length/angle for the creation of a Dooku saber hilt some time in the future. I was saving it for my second build.. I would love to see what you come up with and 'borrow' any insight you might have on this kind of hilt work. :)

Very good idea. I can't wait to see it finished. A nice paint job would make it look awesome.

I may be wrong here as I have not done much with cars lately, but aren't exhaust pipes quite a bit more expensive than regular sinktubes. Not to say they can't be used for awesome sabers!

Forgot to ask before, what are the specs for it?

Angle? Int/ext measurements?

Ah, you beat me too it. I have one of these tubes in my shop waiting to be put to use. I just did a curved saber so I was gonna do a couple others before I did another curved, but now I may have to move up my timeline. ;)

These tubes can be found at most auto parts stores for about $4.50. Which makes them cheaper than sinktube and they are thicker stronger pieces of metal. Also with some sanding and a bit of mothers you can make em look like mirror shined chrome!

I'm very interested to see what you come up with for yours, I've got some interesting ideas for mine so I will be watching this thread with interest.

Barm - I'll do some measurements tonight and post up unless dude here beats me too it. I do know that the TCSS Anakin conversion kit blade holders fit pretty much perfect in the angle cut side and 2 18650's fit side by side in the flared pommel side which means some CRAZY runtimes for this badboy! It's about 10-11" long.

You see a red blade because of the red polyc tube and red luxIII in the mail?:D

Saw the pipe while walking through Canadian tire on an unrelated adventure and inspiration hit me in the exhaust section :) and ya they are fairly cheap. In the background you can see another pipe, a length with a flare on either side, this will probably be my next saber a double bladed. Did some research into other exhaust accessories there may be a pronged saber in the future as well :p well as I gain more experience. Just dreams right now.
