Hey guys,

I just ordered my first LED kit, blade and blade holder, and it should be here in a few days, but something has me worried...

I read that you needed to tap a hole? What does that mean, exactally?

I don't know if I'll have the tools to do it, but is there a way around this? If I understand, it's to hold the blade in. Is there another option?

Thanks for helping a n00b out. :D

It means you need to drill and then tap (thread) a hole in the blade holder (emitter) for either a thumbscrew or a set-screw to secure the blade in the blade socket. If you do not know how to drill and tap a hole, then you need to read the stickied topic in this very section of the forums, located here:

Hi,
You need to read alittle more.
You need a tap hole to hold the blade in place so when you swing your saber no one gets hit with the blade, and a must for dueling.
It is not hard to do just pick a spot on the blade holder and drill a hole the tap makes the threads for the screw and make sure to get the right size drill and tap, usually sold togeather at a hardware store.

Alright, thanks. :D

Where can I find a tap? I know they sell them here, but can I find them at like Home Depot?

if you have never taped a hole before i would really recomend useind these

these are much easier to use you might want to get a bottle of thread cutting oil to put on the bit

Why would you want to put tape on a hole? :p

Sorry, I'm making fun of your spelling, it shows that leaving out one "p" changes the whole word from "tapped" to "taped".

I've never seen anything like that before. I don't know how it would work with a hand drill.

I've never seen anything like that but I wonder if it would work on MHS hilts...afterall they are only 1.43" so if you drilled through and then push on to the tap area would the drill tip hit the other side first?
