There are many things that you can use for a for a box, suh as a door bell switch, a piece of small sqaure tubing, the list is endless it just requires some thought. Study some pictures of sabers and then decide what would make a box that would look like the one you want to build.

Dang I thought I just went over this, oh well, pipe couplers metal or PVC work well for the activator ring. Door bell switches are my personal favorites for the activation switches but like Do-Clo said there are lots of options. Heck you can make a mold and then custom make a box if you feel inclined.

Hey James, do you have any of these "doorbell sabers" handy? If so, could you show us one, just so we can see how it looks?

By your command.
I will get something dug out of the boy's room in the morning and get some pic's fired up. I am going to be doing one here soon with a Corbin board and I will keep update pics on that as well.

Do you keep the insides in the doorbell and will it work like a switch or do you have to gut it and replace it with something else?

That is why it is called a doorbell switch, it is a normally open monetary switch like you would use with a hasbro sound module. If you need one that lacthes on and off then you will have to rework it.

That was a slap together PVC saber that we made up PVC blades for and used them at a party. Painting, drilling and mounting a pin or lever could be done with little effort. The main trick is rounding the top and bottom to fit your hilt. I also did one where I painted the whole doorbell with the color shift paint but one of the kids snached that up and screwed it on his saber real fast.

The sink tube saber is my on going Lowes special. The blade holder is in there with a jack but I still haven't figured out what kind of switch I want to do and I am still undecided on grips.

James that is good start on your Lowes special saber, I am undecided about grips also since I have done most of the types that are out there. I have 3 sabers in the works and I want them to be different not just the same old stuff so I am going to have to get looking for something.
