Crystal Chamber Tutorial

Been looking in the forum for threads on Crystal chambers and decided to see if anyone had a tutorial for how to make one and mount it.

Someone asked the same question in another thread so I thought I'd take the potential heat and ask away.

Sooooooo has anyone got any good photos of the build of one (in steps) that can be turned into a tutorial, especially including how to keep it seated in hilt.

I haven't seen any posted, right now it's sort of hap hazard, because most chambers are unique to the build.

There are a few very well done crystal chambers on that page.

There's really no set method to follow. Like DDG said, every one is different. All I can suggest is that you look around through the gallery pages and see how others have done theirs and modify what they did to suit your build.

hey! thats really cool. how did you attach that assembly? i cant see it very well.

The forward washer is cut out like a "C", with the opening being just big enough to slide over the smaller diameter in the heat sink. There are four holes drilled in that washer, to match the rear washer. I had to dremmel four channels in the heat sink for the rods to fit into. It was kind of fiddly to assemble, but once I tightened the nuts, it was rock solid.

I used 5mm LED bezels to hold the crystal.

I'm working on a crystal chamber built off of an MHS neck peice.

BTW - Obi - your starkiller and cahmber ROCKS!

-1/25" OD washers with a small hole
-6-32 threaded rod
-6-32 nuts
-LED bezels linked above
-brass tubing from a hobby store. They sell this in different sizes for use in RC cars and stuff. You'll have to bring the threaded rod with you to find the size that fits.
-quartz crystal point. I found some in a second hand/junk store, in with other semi-precious stones. I think you can probably find them on Ebay too. Failing that, TCSS sells the acrylic ones for $1.99 a bunch.

That's about it. Some careful measurement, and some dremmel fu.
