i keep seeing people on fleabay selling blades made with Special Fiber optic blade" one of them is saying the fiber optic blade came from this shop but i go into the shop and there is no such blade???why is that?ive already figured out that this "Special Fiber optic blade" is actually pieces from an under car led kit that has a special film on it to help it reflect.that is why they cant sell just the film because its all one piece.im not talking about corbins film or tcss acetate film but its these 2 guys on fleabay have you guys run across these guys???

The fiber optic blades have a reflective film in them. Its pretty easy to get. Its simply clear cellophane gift wrap. You can get it at hobby lobby or even walmart. Just buy the polycarbonate tube and blade tip here, and get the gift wrap at walmart. Here is a tutorial (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=7274). They might have been talking about using cellophane and the white colored polycarbonate, which you can also get here.

Oh and welcome to the forums. Do lots of reading and you'll go far.

"Fiber optic" blade is a misnomer. It sounds cool, but I wish people would stop calling them that. Ultrasabers started that. Their film they use had nothing to do with fiber optics.

one auction on fleabay is Item number: 260434146733
he offers support from this forum and says the fiber-optic blade is from here the custom saber shop.complete lie.

It says that the blade support is from TCSS, which I assume to be the blade holder.
Goes on to describe the blade as "fiber optic", which was the hype word that Ultra used to use when describing his blades. The auction description doesn't say where the blade comes from.

Been awhile since I've heard them being called that. It obviously worked, though, as when I was new to the saber scene in '06, I actually thought it was fiber optic...that is, until the blade perma-crinkled on me and I had to remove the film and saw it was simply several roles of mylar...

No, it's not mylar, that would be too dark, Ultra uses a clear acetate.

People here use a clear cellophane gift wrap. It just looks silver once you have several layers of it rolled up.

That listing doesn't even say anything about a "fiber-optic" blade, it says "dueling blade". The "blade support" is probably just the TCSS conversion kit. Look under the listing title where it says: "comes with alloy blade support"

That guy's not the greatest writer. This is a strangely written sentence: "The blade slides out by a tiny retention bolt." Unless he mean "past".

The only person who I remember using mylar in blades was Jon/Jonitus. Alex's is acetate, which is basically cellophane.

Fine, Acetate. My point being: it certainly wasn't "fiber optic".
And I use polypropylene in my blades. Sturdier than cellophane IMO.

It did say fiber optic blade about 20 mins ago. Someones watching this thread.

Aha.

I wonder if he'll change the wording anymore, now that he knows that J-Lo, the spelling and grammar Nazi is watching his auction. :p
