Thick-walled polycarbonate tubes have been marketed and sold as escrima/kali/arnis sticks and hanbo staves. That's how I found out about polycarbonate tubes in the first place back in the late 80's/early 90's.
I would fear his polycarbonate blade... if he could actually defend himself with it.

Monadnock PR-24 police batons are polycarbonate...so yes a thickwall polyc saber blade could be employed defensively if it came down to it.
Oh and guys DON'T skip ahead to 1:50...Hayden Panetierre [the GOOD Hayden ;-)] is well worth watching for the couple minutes lol
