Here is what I have so far. I still need boots, belt, flightsuit, chest, and some weapons. I have a cod peice, thigh, knee, and shin armor on the way. Helmet needs a LOT of work. Will post stuff when finished. Oh, and the picture of me wearing the armor is a comparison to what the armor use to look like.

Agreed, I think I should start a summer project for the goal of making some Mando armor.

Awesome, I cut out some aluminum sheets with WoF's templates, what template did you use for the cod piece? I'm disatisfied with the way mine shaped... Might just be a material issue...

Looking great, though your chest pieces aren't so symetrical (unless thats the pic or you want it that way) might want to re-tool them.

Looks to me like they're just not placed perfectly symmetrical. Might be his placement, or just how the clothing slid around. Long as it looks good when he wears it, it's all good!

Depends on your definition of complicated...
You should see the gauntlets people make, much harder and more complex.
There are tutorials for all of these things online though, so it's more time and work than anything else.

They might be a little off because I took off about an inch all the way around. Also...its the lighting and the way they are shaped.

I didn't actually make them, I bought them from shubys galactic props on ebay.

Looking great Chase. It is always a good feeling once you get certain pieces of a project completed. Your Mandalorian friends look like there ready to take on some Jedi and Sith. Sounds like a fight that a Grey needs to split up so that we can all go to the Waffle House and eat amongst friends. Wow, that sentence really didn't make any grammatical sense... so be it... so be it!

Amazing work, you inspire me to get back to working on mine. Did you build those WESTAR-34s yourself?

chase
08-03-2009, 04:14 PM
Thanks fellas. We will have to get some pics together once we both have our armor done, Arkai.

The Westars are not custom built. They are actually the nerf version of the gun. The one with sound is WAY too big and just..ugly. I'll have other guns with my costume, just haven't finished them. Three blasters on my back, and two at my hips. The ones on the back will be Mass Effect style.

You will be done soon enough, Arkai. Take your time and don't rush...that's when things start to get ugly and then you say "wow, this looks awful" and then you decide to re-do it and it takes twice as long!

definately no intention to rush. I want my armor to look awesome, not fugly.

Side note, are you planning or have you already put some cooling fans in your bucket? If not, I highly recommend it. I put two 5v fans in mine of a9v battery. while it's no leaf blower, they definately move the air enough to help keep you cool.

I'll be alright. I live in the south and have to deal with the heat everyday. It doesn't really bother me. Maybe one day I'll install one though. Do you have a link to somewhere I can get small enough fans for a bucket?

I live in Texas, so I can understand heat (that's why I put fans).

I'll pm ya a link to the fans.

Ive got a 12 volt Battery in my Boba Side Belt Pouch, powering 2x12V PC fans in my lid... Gets a nice airflow going, and it really isnt that much of a weight problem once the belt is on. I generally get about 8 hours out of the battery as well so really good for a long troop :)

I've got the bucket in customs right now, the armor just cleared today. The voice amp arrived today, but I don't have any 9v batts to test it out. I'll start taking lots of pictures and get a thread going to show my progress. I'm aiming to have it done by C4
Not the C4 you guys immediately think of, this is the Central Canada Comic Con
Peter Mayhew shall be there!

I still think you are a bit too heavy handed on the weathering. It doesn't look "realistic" IMO.

Often, less is more.

Dakarn

Another weathering tip I know from painting models is to remember that edges and raised areas will wear first. So work from an edge or raised spot and irregularly weather from there.

It's great to see another Mando join the ranks!
It's a bit late to toss this out there, but are you right or left handed?
If you're right handed, your left side should be weathered with blaster holes more than your right side, because you've got that facing the direction you're shooting in.
