Newest project - TCSS based saber with emitter shroud.

This is a recycle of my first TCSS saber "Arbiter" seen here

Took out the main body, threw in a double female extension and the MHS Gear...
Now it looks like this:

Obviously heavily influenced by recent works from many people here...(the Dara comes to mind)
The grooves in the grips were powdercoated in "black gold glimmer"
Not quite sure if I should powdercoat the shroud in it too - what do you guys think?
Will be putting in a choke crystal chamber and a lighted anti-vandal switch.
The electronics will be based on a 6V pack and MR Anakin board.
The main LED will be a white Seoul P7 (HOLY $#!& that thing is super bright!!!) with a modified Ultrasabers reflector
I think I'm going to try and get a 5mm RGB LED from Radio Shack to light up the crystal chamber.

Given that this is sort of a rebirth of a previous saber, anyone have a suggestion for a name?

Enjoy!

I'd call it "Renatus" Meaning "rebirth"!

I would powder coat the overlay myself- a nice black.

Really sweet, I like the over lay on that, wondering how it will be connected.

i still dont get why people put on those hand-shredder overlays... i mean, sure it looks good (it really does), but just try swinging that thing...

anyway, good job though

It's actually quite a bit smoother than you would think. The only sharp point is by the very tip, the rest of it has been dremel'd smooth, so no hand cutting here. And unless you plan on impaling or hitting yourself with the blade, you're probably not going to have any problems with the tip either. Plus, as an added benefit, powdercoating tends to smooth out the rough edges too

The bottom tip sort of recesses itself into the grooves in the handle

Very nice overlay. I agree, you can get the overlays to have smooth edges with a dremel, file and sand paper. Plus, like you said, the powder coating will make the edges smooth too.
