Hey guys!

I did these two this week just to see how they'd turn out. I took a 2 C-Cell Maglite LED and put them in a couple of Hasbro toy sabers I had lying around. I bought a piece at OSH to fit in the emitter to hold the blade and I used clear film colored with a sharpee to get the blue effect. All in all I think it turned out pretty well

Expecting to get $200 on ebay for that Obi-wan is a little ludicrous though.

Yeah, I know. But stranger things have happened, right? :p If I get the opening bid, I'll be happy. I also have a Dooku that I still need a blade for as well. So when that arrives I'll post pics of that one too. :)

How many blue sharpies did you go through? All of them?

No, not that many(LOL). I take a piece of clear film(super clear 3M mailing tape), put it on the insertion end of the blade and color just the end. It's the same principle as using the colored filters. Nice thing is I can color it in, leave the center clear to get the white core effect, or any other color if I want. It looks really good with the right blade. The MR ones don't work to well so I tend to color it all in with them. But I have something like 48 different colors of Sharpies so the possibilities are endless. :-D

I don't really understand why you "converted" hasbro sabers?

I don't know how much you spent, but "I" would rather spend $40 to make a PVC saber than drop $20 for a hasbro+LED+Blade... and convert it. Just my opinion.

Nice conversion, the 1s that I have say they are Mace Windu EP1 on them ;)

Yes, this one did too. I got it a looong time ago. I've started seeing them with Plo Koon on them recently, but it is the same saber. I'm thinking about getting a new blade for it. I built a couple of PEX blades, but the LEDs aren't bright enough to really make it work well. Next step is to get a thin walled blade from Tim as soon as I get a little extra cash.
