let me tell you. mounting the electronics was a PAIN and you wouldne believe how hard it was to get the wires through those holes since they are between the optics and board mount.

heres me!

That's an extremely good looking hilt. As bling bling as it seems it really isn't overkill. Very nice.

Holy saber Batman (pun intended)!

Is that a saber or a reading lamp? ;)

Very bright (and ventilated). Needs to light up blue, not white. Blue... you want it blue. *waves hand*

Very good, though are you going to powder coat this in places? Without some differencial colours, it will give to much glare & will detract from the actual details....

I have to ask, why set up a new topic? It can just clutter the forum. My updates for my sabers will all be going into one topic.

Mods, can we get these two combined please?

You won't have to fight anyone, the light coming out of those cut outs for your "crystal chamber" will just blind them. :p

Doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose of having a crystal chamber if you can't even see what's inside it?

Lookin good there - I like the small holes and the white and clean metal work go together well for me.
The large "crystal chamber" cutaway section looks a bit too bright for my taste, but maybe that's just how it looks on camera.
Mostly looking really good, nice one!

Great job DJ. Glad to help. I think it would look great if you powder coat some of it black. If the blade doesn't get your opponent, you could always blind them. lol Once again, great job.

Very nice! Now we just need you to take some CLEAR pictures of it in a well-lit room!

at least you finished one.. good job...

although its not a crystal chamber..if there is no 'crystal'.. ya know? its more like 'holes' ;)

IMHO,.... that is just WAAAAY to may holes & vents.. but if you like it thats all that counts I suppose.

Well done DJ! Impressive first saber! I like the crystal chamber, but must agree it is to bright...what if you put a peice of tinted plastic on the inside there? it would accent it and dim the light...just a thought

Looks awesome! Perhaps you could fiddle with some settings on your camera so the light is not as bright. Or just take some photos in daylight with the saber turned off.

Dude, amazing work on that saber! It's cool how you machined most of it yourself! I can't wait to see it (and hear it) 100% done! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Looks Sick DJ, I know it says silver essence but a yellow blade would look sick, or even purple.:D

i was thinking of throwing a yellow or purple in every once in a while. im just waiting for my stupid Lee filters swatch booklet to come in, i ordered one like 2 months ago1  the camera i used was my camera phone. so very crummy photos (i said crummy for j los benifit.) the makeshift Crystal chamber is alot more visible in real life. the camera just blinds it out. it looks like a real crystal. naw i dont think ill powder coat it.. i want to keep it as a silver and chrome finish. and i wanted alot of holes and windows... its my taste. not one of my sabers doesnt have a window of some sort.. lol :D

as for the switch problem, ive decided to make do with the box i have and mount the switch on top with a lot smaller switch... it wont look as good anc clean, but it will work and save money, plus i can have it fixed by tomorow. and man i HATE that stupid hasbro speaker i have temporarily fixed up. total ewness.

well i want to thank everyone here for helping me out and putting up with my newb behaviour. thanks for still putting up with me im sure i still get on some of your nerves but with out your guys's help i would have never been abow to accomplish this. thanks alot and i cant wait for saber #2. (and all the rest of the numbers in the number line)

very but i think that the TCSS battle blade robs the LED of a lot of its potential. so im going to by some corbin film and thrown it in there instead of a blade diffuser

ooohhh say can you see?

Nice, DJ! Good to see all that come together into one mighty saber!

The small holes look great!
As does the window!

I do think it'd be pretty sweet to line the window with some kind of color filter.

Just some info for ya.

1. A lit up blade using a blade diffuser tube is brighter than a lit up blade using Corbin's blade film.

2. More layers of Corbin blade film = better light diffusion but the blade gets more dim with more layers. Blade diffuser tubes already provide excellent light diffusion without modification.

3. Polypropylene wrap = See #2.

4. Blade film and polypropylene crinkle when the blade is ever so slightly bent. Blade diffuser tubes do not crinkle unless the blade the diffuser tube is inserted in is very severely bent.

5. Blade diffusers are much easier to install than film or polypropylene wrap.

Conclusion. Blade diffusers pwn Corbin's blade film. That's right, I'm 40 and used the word "pwn". Deal with it. ;)

Personally I'd rather have a brighter blade that has excellent light diffusion and is a lot easier to install than the coring offered by the Corbin's blade film.

I tested all of the above using two identical LEDS from the same batch (had to break them apart to seperate them), identical hilts, 8 fresh AAA (1.5v) non-rechargable lithium batteries (4 per saber) and same length blades with rounded tips and adhesive reflective disks. I tried the same tests again after swapping each blade with each hilt... just to be sure.

i have a normal ultrasabers blade and i threw that in there and the blade is way brighter and way more evenly lit. its almost purely perfect. so im going to by a 40" with a mirrored tip.

Good job DJ. Heck I am impressed that someone as young as you did all the machining himself.

Look forward to seeing others as your skills increase.
