Yes I am currently working on a conversion kit for it..the hard part at the moment is figuring out how I want to do blade retention.

I've done 43 Darth Maul conversions so far. There's not really a whole lot to them, that's why I convert them for so little. The wonderfully awesome thing about the Maul is the thick polycarb blade it comes with and the fact that you can use standard thick walled blades in them, too(available right here at TCSS). It's a truly amazing FX and word has it the Obiwan is the same way.

You've done 43?? Sheesh.. My 1 is still in the box.. Haven't had it out but to look at it..
By using the regular blade holder in it.. How do you suggest making it so you can remove and retain the blade? The pin looks to far down and I don't really see a place near the emitter..
I really don't want to screw it up or having it sit in pieces like my Windu is right now..

Yup, 43. 30 ebay pre-orders, 10 direct sales from my website, and 3 send-in conversions. As for set screws, there are black areas under the mitter that will match a black set screw very well, so just drill and tap a hole.

Hmmm that's what I figured I'd have to blend it in there..
I was hoping I didn't have to put any holes in it...
Now I got to figure what color I want my blades...

Ultra, can you tell me if the LED electronics in the Maul blade appear to be any better made? I assume that MR made the blades thicker in an attempt at making them more duel-able, but I figured they would have to make the electronics more durable too.

Otherwise, I can't see how it can be any more duel-able than the prior FX models. [?]

one half seems heavier than previous models...
I can't wait for the Kenobi Saber.. I wonder how man batteries that will take..
After hearing how easy it is to convert, mine is looking tempting... I just have to get the money for the stuff to convert mine...
That and the color I want the blades.. I may end up with two colors..

The LED strip looks no different. The sound is louder than previous models, though, and it uses triple A's instead of double, so the girth of the hilt is realistic. But as far as durability goes, there is none in the electronics, only the thicker blade.

In stock form, the Maul FX can take more strikes than a previous model FX before getting dark spots. However, in time, it will develop black spots too, regardless of the new thick blade it comes with.

Therefore, Luxeon conversions are still needed.

Sweet Ultra, yeah that's really cool I already seen your ultra saber darth maul on ebay looks great. Once I get my darth maul in I'm gonna duel with it to see how long it can withstand hits until I see dark spots.

Also I have another question can a corbin driver fit inside the darth maul? I'm just wandering because if I do decide to convert it or have someone do it I would like to still have that scrolling effect power up, power down.

since ultra has done so many so far, he would be the one to answer that question. it would be nice tho, if it would, but im thinking there wouldnt be any room. after i seen the tutorial on breaking one down, they reused the original holder, and therefore, didnt leave any extra space for it, but as i said, ultra should be able to answer that in more detail.

Yeah thanks a bunch I think I'm coming up with a decision soon. I saw DarthvaderUSA on ebay. I don't like his conversion Darth Maul on the fact that he is not using a blade mirror. It makes the saber look so bad. Also I have heard other things too something about that he copies other ideas or something like that and puts the conversion screw on the big copper button on the anakin just many rumors in general. Alright yeah so on thursday I'll be making the decision by then. Thanks everyone for all your help and support. [:)]

I've done my Maul and love it... The hilts are much m ore comfortable in your hands... Me and my cousins were having saber fights this past Sunday.. That is until my lil cousin who's 8 busted her 13 year old brother in the mouth and split his lip and he had to get stitches..
The force is strong in that lil one..

By the way I've heard people talk about the quality of PatrioticVader's conversions and how bad they are...
I personally don't use mirrors in my tips that I have.. I bought some though.. I can't seem to get them to stay in the blade and get in there straight. That being using them on stock MR Blades. I have a good way of putting them in there without cutting the tip off and modding the blade... It's posted around here somewhere..
I've also heard something about the slackfarm guy too..
That would be who Ultra talks about is his ebay listings...

Wow, yeah sorry to hear about that. I feel sorry for the 13 year old boy though. I've been doing some serious dueling for about 2 months now and none of my blade mirrors haven't fallen off yet. Well for the blade mirrors if one ever did fell off I just use the foam that is inside the diffuser when you start converting your blade and place the mirror ontop of the foam then slide it inside the blade going up.

I haven't had a mirror fall off yet and the only one that has been lost was when my boy hit the tip just right and sent the whole thing flying.

but i havent heard too many people havin any probs with the mirrors.

LOL Lynx! I posted something a while back about using that foam to put mirrors in.. I believe I said something about using the foam and inserting a rod up in the foam for support and the foam helps from scratching up the inside of the blade...

Alright yeah so I guess that one is thought of along time ago. But it would be annoying if you had to keep on glueing that Blade Mirror up the blade every time you did intense dueling.

"Lightness in body"

LAN-ED-TUL
05-11-2006, 08:59 PM
well if your using tims diffuser the mirror sits right on top of it and the acrylic tip holds it against the diffuser or you can glue the mirror on the tip.

now if these new poly c tips tims supposed to get ever get here, hint, hint, with that step that snugly goes a tiny bit down into the polyc blade. it will in effect lock the mirror in place.

Ohhhhh I c yeah that would be super sweet. Yeah I haven't yet have to reglue the blade mirror on any of my sabers yet. But if he does come out with those kind of blades I would buy one for all my sabers. Because it's just not the same without a blade mirror.

I remember seeing a part here on TCS awhile back, for LED sabers. It allowed lxeon LED's to be easily swapped out of a saber. Would it be possible to mount one of those inside a Darth Maul? I ask because I am having the WORST time deciding what colour I want my converted blade to be. Right now it's a hard toss-up between red and guardian blue. If I could swap LED's, that would be more than perfect.

Do the blades from the other MR's (such as the vader) fit in the Maul hilt?

My bad, yeah I'm sure it wouldn't really fit inside the hilt of the maul since the other MR Blades are thinner than the Thicker Maul MR Blade. But maybe the TCSS Blade can fit.

Are you sure that the darth maul blade is thicker and the other blades won't fit? If you have a TCSS blade could you see if that fits?

Yes the Maul Blade is thicker.. It's not as thick as the TCSS blade..
I'd say maybe 3/32 thick... The TCSS Blade I have fits the Maul Hilt..
