Hey, I'm trying to decide between a Blue or Royal Blue LED, but I can't see the exact difference with all the conflicting camera pictures in the galleries. Could someone post a side-by-side comparison? I don't care if it's the same picture or anything, just as long as the camera is set the same way for both pics.

give me just a min...
...OK, the royal blue to me looks just like ROTS anakin but brighter. The blue looks alike almost a teal but then in certain light it looks "medium" blue. The cyan is the closest match to the ANH color but to me I think blue looks alot like it as well. This might not be a perfect rep but at least it is same camera, same time.

I would like to add that as you all know the camera is a sneaky sucker, Royal Blue is lighting up the whole freakin' living room. I think that a good discussion of wavelength and all that good hopscotch with folks alot smarter then me could explain why the lowest rated LED is as bright as it is. Now if they just had the purple[:D]

It is in the eye,[:D] the human reacts differntly to colors and some colors will appear brighter than others. The royal blue being the lowest output can appear to be one of the brighter colors. The red and green also are very easy for the eye to detect.

You are dead on Do-Clo. I remember going through all of the science of it in photography but I don't totally recall the exact details, I just like to point out that the lumen output should be put in to perspective.
Big word for the day[:D]

Huh. Awesome. Thanks a bunch, James. I think I'll go with Royal Blue, as it appears to match the ESB/Prequel Trilogy sabers better.

BTW, does anyone have any idea what color LEDs are in the Hasbro 2005 Color-Change Anakin? I just pulled out mine, and it's dead-on with the ESB color.

They are a blue high output led in a clear housing. That is the best I can do for you.

Hmm... I suppose they probably aren't on the same "color chart" that Luxeons are. Oh well. Royal Blue it is.

If your looking for the ESB and Prequel blue then Royal Blue is the way to go.

HMMM....maybe building a hilt to fit the color change deal would be cool. Might not be as bright as LUX but with a good blade it would look a million times better.
EDIT-Looks like you made your mind while my slow butt was typing[;)]

I was thinkin just shootin it up the tube like the toy does, I wasa just thinkin that a 1 inch blade with the diffuser would look better then the blade on the hasbro.

that might not work too well because the toys have a short blade that tapers in, it would be really cool if it did work though.

i am a nerd, if you don't like it, i will cut you with my lightsaber

I'm thinking the LED's would still shoot up the tube, again I don't think it will be anywhere near as good as using the setup that we have, gut it would seem to me that if those 4 little LED's can somewhat lightup a scuffed clear plastic tube then it should give some kind of light up the blades we use.
