... My first functional hilt! Sinktube/PVC chassis, Lux III green, TCSS 1.25" blade holder, stock joe jedi blade, lots of little greeblies from here and there. Pics:

It has no sound (I wanted to gather some expertise before adding more complex in-hilt electronics), the Lux III is powered by four AAA and a buckpuck. It has scratches and little "dohīs" here and there, but I think itīs a start, finally :-D

Hope you like it, thanks for having a look :-)

Nice saber. What did you use for the pommel?

Thanks Rhyen... I used a couple of aluminium disks drilled and screwed together, a metal piece from an old lightbulb socket (yellowish/gold metal strip), and a couple of nuts/inserts from a broken DVD player (tiny ones in the center of the pommel). You know, scavenging is your ally in this hobby ;-)

Very nice :)

There's nothing wrong with taking steps... nothing says that you can't add sound to this saber later either. Upgrading is always a fun way to keep learning.

Thanks to you all for the compliments, you rock :)

Havenīt had the time for that yet... Donīt have the hilt with me right now, but I will post pics of the innards soon. It was really cramped there, with only 1" ID to work with, but eventually I got everything suffed int the hilt. It was very fun to build this one and Iīve learned a lot... Now I have even more hilt ideas orbiting my brain :D

That's how it goes... I can't finish one without thinking of another before I'm finished ;)

...And so the addiction begins.

Hmm... Not quite following you on that one Loreen (as this is not my native tongue). I hope itīs some kind of creative criticism ;)

Is that yellow heat shrink you used? If it is, I was mistaking that for a type of solderless connection terminal called a butt splice.

They looks like this:

You place a stripped wire into each and crimp it down on each wire.

As I look more closely though, It looks like you did solder the wires and used yellow heat shrink.

Sorry if I confused you.

Ahh, perfectly clear now, Loreen, didnīt even know what butt splices were! :D I do prefer to secure the connections as much as possible, so I soldered the wires and then applied the heatshrink. And no need for apologies, Iīve learned what a butt splice is thanks to your reply
