I call it the "Veritas". I think it turned out pretty well. At first I wasn't sure about the Sun Gold powder coating, but it grew on me very quickly. No electronics yet - waiting on a soudboard. When I do get that installed I plan on having the blade be pure white (though I have colored discs standing by if that doesn't look as good as I am hoping).

Hope you like it, any thought from more experienced sabersmiths are welcome!

Nice!

I'm actually using a similar set up on a friends hilt soon, though i'd have pc'd the choke instead of the blade holder, but that's just me...

I like the design, very functional looking.

Thanks all! I'll post pics with the blade once my cheapo Hasbro saber gets here and I can scavenge the soundboard. Hmm, maybe ordering it just before Memorial Day weekend was not the best idea...

looking good dude, i like seeing that style of choke being used as it is the one i intend to use on mine. it helps me to see it in a different light.

personally i dont like the PC, but everyone has their own style, and thats is awesome :D

as i see it, you could(/should) go with a white p4 and try and get a orange blade with leefilters, i see orange on that one(maybe cause that's the bladecolor ive fallen for recently), maybe a p4(or cree?) blue ;D

( btw, tim should try to stock some lee-swatchbooks  cause.. yeah..im swedish, i wont get em for free ><)

sorry for the minor threadjack... MAKE LIGHT HAPPEN! youre gonna love that hilt when its lit! ;D

I agree with Evil dean, Orange would work on that. I'd recommend the Amber from here:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Optoelectronics/Power-LEDs/3W-Star-LED/74701

Much as I love Tims Amber, it's too yellowy to count as 'true' amber. You're choice though...

Or you could get a white P4 (as it is extreamly bright at 240 lumens) and use lee filters.

I think I like the white blade. It seems like it should be brighter though...

Looks Great, it looks like you need more polyp in the blade.

Something's not right with that blade...what optics did you use? Is the blade thin-walled or thick-walld?

Jedi-Loreen

Yeah, I'm wondering if there's even any optics in there. There's hardly any light making it to the top half of the blade and there's way too much flare at the base.

Using this blade: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/LED-Corbin-style-Battle-blade-1-OD--P198.aspx (with double wrap).

with a 5 degree lens. After taking a clser look it looks like the lens isn't aligned properly and keeps popping out of the lens holder.

The 5 degree will do that....you'll have to remove the tabs on the holder for it to fit properly. The 5 degree is the best choice for the thick-walled battel blade, so you were right to get that one.

EDIT:
I finally found my posts where I posted pictures of the difference in the 5 and 10 degree lenses:

I concur - your optics are the culprit. You'll need to clip off the little tabs on the optics holder to get the collimator lens to sit down on the LED properly. You'll be surprised at the difference it makes.

Jay-gon is probably right I had the same issue until i stumbled upon his post on the optics... :)

Thanks Jay-gon - the blade is much more even now:

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu45/IstariFortunae/0529091532.jpg

The flare at the bottom is just due to my crappy camera - it doesn't apppear when you see it in person.

Well, that looks much better!
