I have been around for a while on this board, just dont post, guess I am Darth Lurker [:D] Anyway I am finally getting my TK armor after years of wanting it and plan on going to some conventions dressed in it. Anybody else in here dress for the conventions? + besides the celebration ones what would the best one be for a star wars fan?

Congrats, and welcome. I know there is a lot of talk about the dragoncon coming up but other then that the best thing is to check you local area to see what is coming.

Indeed, check with your local 501st and rebel legion. You might want to get with the 501st too.[;)]

Joining the 501st is my ultimate goal although I have wanted the armor way before albin came up with the idea for the 501st, the idea of bringing smiles to kids faces kinda pushed me over the tip to spend the money to get everything together. I am already a member of Garrison Cardia's "Academy" they help you with questions about building the armor and other "props" I have been talking ot devil about going to Dragon this year not sure if it is gonna happen as I really want to go in costume but heard the armor takes forever to get totally together.

I'm hoping for D*Con this year too. Hopefully it's in the cards. I have some people I'd like to meet. Meeting some saber goons would be [8D] too.

Xwing are you from around the Atlanta area? Devil and I are talking about taking a train as I can not see fitting my armor on the train or the public transit in Atlanta I think driving would be a better option but man oh man that is a distance. Of course we could rent a van or sumtin and I could treat it as a birthday gift to myself as the last day of dragon falls on my birthday

Yup... Tazrob is the Devils cousin. [;)] Its his fault that I'm now addicted to FX/LED sabers.

Anyway, the train doesn't seem to be all that small and uncomfortable. It says that it has sleep/smoking/dining cars. Toss the armor in a duffle bag, and lets do it. Afterall, the convention center is less than 2 miles away from the train station according to the Cons website.

Either that, or like you said, we rent a van. I'll chip in on it, but you're driving BOTH ways... lol...

Get a bag... They have bags like that at Walmart, just no dividers inside. You'd have to make your own if you don't want the pieces rubbing together.

Yes, thats the design that won. Unfortunatly, as far as screenprinting T-shirts goes, these would cost an arm and a leg due to the glow of the sabers, so we havent been able to get them ordered. We are hoping to get them, but its not something that will be happening in the near future. We may have to settle for a simplified design, we shall see......

Just say the word and I can tweak it. Is it the fade or the actual color count? I believe I know how to fix it for a single color if a fade is fine.

Not a bad idea... Plane ticket might not be bad if American (or one of those airlines... mind isn't sure[:p]) still has their hub there in Atlanta.

The Carida is our local Garrison... You'd have to join YOUR local garrison, there should be a section for folks to sign up that are in the process of building their costume.

You won't be a full member, but you'll be well on your way. After your costume is done, they will review it and let you know if its up to par.

The 501st is a Star Wars imperial costuming organization. They do charity work and such as well as going to conventions in full costume. Lucas has even put the group "in the movies" and in a game. In ROTS the 501st is the group that attacks the jedi temple and in Battle Front 2 the story mode is all about the 501st.

It also bears saying the name comes from the EU. The 501st Garrison in SW is called "Vader's Fist." It's Vader's personal troops. Baron Fel is a prominent 501st member if you're into EU and the pilot books.

It's good to hear there will be alot of you going to Dragon*Con. I'm planning on doing alot of costuming, like usual. As far as SW stuff goes I hopefully will have a Sith Lord costume done with some vibroblades and maybe a dark Jedi with an electrostaff, and other than that I'm doing stuff like Cloud Strife(FF7 Advent Children), Sol Badguy(Guilty Gear), Bankai form Ichigo(Bleach), Wolverine(Ultimate X-Men), and Dante(Devil May Cry 3).

Hopefully many of you will be there, I look forward to meeting you all!
