I started this lightsaber some time ago, the first problem was to make a heat sink to keep the Seoul P7 cool as it runs at 2800 ma. I made a custom fined aluminum heat sink led mount. I also installed a small fan on the rear of the heat sink to aid in the cooling. This setup was perfect for dealing with the heat generated by the P7 led. The next problem was what to use for optics, I tired a plastic chrome plated reflector but I discovered that the 900 lumen output of the led shined through the chrome plating on the reflector. I found a polished aluminum reflector for a flashlight and modified it to fit the led's large led dome and to fit inside of a 1 inch diameter blade holder. I used a custom led driver to power the P7 led and a single 3.7 volt 5000 ma lithium ion protected battery. I decided that a saber like this should have a sound board and with some work I wired up a MR FX sound board. Then a large hit was needed to house everything. I designed the hilt and made it long enough to house all of the electronics for the saber. The saber is 14.5 inches long and I drilled cooling holes in the hilt to allow the fan to draw cooler air into the hilt and blow hot air out. The blade is a 40 inch long 1 inch diameter Do-Clo blade.

That thing is insane... but I need to ask... where did you find a fan small enough to fit inside the hilt?

Thanks, I got the fan from a surplus electronics store near where I live.

Master Do-Clo,

Very nice, very nice in deed. I think the length is great(I LIKE LONG HILTS). interesting how you solved the heat problem, I like.

Again great work and a GREAT Saber.:D

I like the xtra large fork and spoon in the vid............................................... ......

Nice Do Clo! that thing is briiiight!
One question though, how do you think it would compare to a ledengin 10w brightness wise?
It surely uses less Voltage than the ledengin but the optics are a bit of a pain.
Cheers

The ledegin output in lumens it a lot less so I would have to say it would not be as bright. The P7 is just crazy bright.

Looks great Do-Clo, I am so going to use a p7 in my next saber.
