now i want to use this in the new led saber i am saving up for and i gonna go the MHS style how will i wire it up and the only schmetic i have seen is with corbin driver board is there any i dont need it(no offence corbin i just dont know what it does) cause i want to plan it before unlike my el saber with pretty much on the fly work

Well, since you were gone there is a new wiring forum. There are plenty of diagrams there. From the looks of it yours is pretty straight forward. Black and Red are the battery wires and the Yellow is the lamp wire. The lamp wire will to the LED as if it was the positive resistored wire and then put a wire from the battery to the LED.

Since I don't see sensors you probably won't have that blasted flash on clash too. As for Corbin's driver... read the description. It does a lot of good stuff.[;)]

Lots has flown around since you were gone. Check out the stuff. Especially the FAQ and Thread index.[;)]

<center>Read the FAQ (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=552) or x-wing won't be happy. :(
Before posting did you check the Thread Index (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=577)?

You'll have to replace the speaker. Those old speakers don't fit in a 1.5 sink tube much less the MHS.

This board is not as old as you think. The speaker is the newer style that will fit in a sink tube and like Xwing said the wiring is a piece of cake. Just follow the diagrams that are here and if you get stuck just shout and I am sure one of us can help you work it out.

have you decided on corbins board to use with it? or are ya just gonna go with it to power the lux and hook it up that way? and i dont know know if the older boards are voltage dropped enough to run the lux without a resistor. id ask if you needed one.

I hope this question hasn't alrady been answered. I searched the forums and couldn't find a good answer.

This is my first Saber. I am running a 3Watt Luxeon star with a 5W 2.2Ohm resistor. I am using 4AA batteries

Here is my problem....
I am trying to also get an Old hasbro sound board to work...I used an older Anakin sound board(no light clash)..hooked it up and..Nothing...I tried again with a newer Windu Board and it worked for a little but then stopped(hopefully I can just get a new fuse)..... Now I am assuming that I am applying to much voltage to the sound board by attaching the LED to it?

My question...
How do i run the LED without frying the board...I am running on a pretty slim budget right now and can't afford Corbins board

If this all works out I have 5 more sound cards ready to be gutted and made into newer LED Sabers. I just ant to get this first one working before I start on a small production line.

Thanks in advance

Ok, I am going to go ahead and just spill how I do this.

I don't use the sound board to power the LED!!! That's right I don't, nope, hate it that way. With the resistor setup you have, You are getting the most bang for your buck with the LED without going in to overdrive. What I normally do when I have the room is to use a 4aaa/aa pack for the LED and then a 2aaa/aa pack for the sound, run them off the same switch and life is great. when room is at a premium, I just jump 3volts off of the 4aaa/aa pack like we have discussed before.

I did a seperate battery pack setup for a buddy of mine and he has changed the LED batteries a few times but has yet to change the sound batteries.

Yeah, most have the FOC and it's a pain in the arse. Some of the hasbro's can handle the extra voltage but they're so unreliable that way. I think I'm going to use micropucks so I can stick to 3V when using Hasbro's now.

Excellent setup xwing. I did one like that for one for a friend of my son. I have heard no complaints at all and it has been a good 6 months or so. The 1w with a micropuck is really awesome, super small size, no weight and as we all know the 1w LEDs have some nice glow to them. I admit I only did the one that way but that is a GREAT option.

Most of the later hasbro sound boards will run with 3 AA batteries really well and the sound is louder. The micropuck will handle 4.5 volts with no problem so a 1 watt luxeon will work great with a micropuck and a hasbro sound board in this type of setup. I have built several sabers with this setup and I have never had a failure.

Thanks James3.

I should have enough room in my hilt for the 2 battery packs and was actually conisidering doing just that. But after blowing two boards I didn't want to try anything until i was sure.

I should have the whole thing done this weekend. I'll post some pics.
