Title is pretty self explanatory...What game do you think is the best star wars video game?

The X-Wing series. If I had to pick one particular one? TIE Fighter.

Or maybe X-Wing Alliance, with the XWA Upgrade.

Or Star Wars - Fate Of The Galaxy, the mod coming out for Freespace 2. I've not played it yet, but I can already tell it will be fantastic

Star Wars: Rebellion.

Its the only one I still like to pull out from time to time.

Overall, I'd say XWA, too.

Of the more modern games... Knights of the Old Republic, with KOTOR I just barely edging out KOTOR II, mostly because of KOTOR I's "what the frak?!" moment - anyone who's played it knows exactly what I'm talking about. Honorable mention goes to Republic Commando - a good game that spawned an awesome series of books.

Personally, I always liked the Jedi Knight series. Anything where you actually get to wield a lightsaber and have force powers gets bonus points in my book.

The Force Unleashed was also quite good, if a tad repetitive.
KOTOR was a lot of fun too, although quite time consuming. Haven't played KOTOR II yet, but someday I will.

I'm in the market for a SW game for the PC too,
Does anybody have anything to say about Battle Front II, or Jedi academy?

The Battlefront games aren't all that fun after the first few times playing them. They get old quick. Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 are much better games of that type... although they are not Star Wars games.

Jedi Academy is fun but flawed. One of the katas for the double-bladed staff cannot be beaten when using it while crouched. Seriously, there is no way through it and it will kill you if you get hit by it. I tested this thoroughly. Still worth getting and playing though.

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast is a much better game but you cannot dual wield or use the staff like in Jedi Academy. You can have a double-bladed staff in multiplayer with a "cheat code" but the moves with it are limited. The best part of this game is using the codes to modify the game to allow more dismemberment options with the lightsaber. In Academy you can only cut off a foot or hand. In Outcast you can cut a being up in many places. Cutting a stormtrooper into multiple pieces in slo-mo = awesome goodness.

Thanks that helps. What about SW Republic Commando? I've had my eye on that one for a while.

I did not like Republic Commando all that much and did not play it all the way through. However my roomate loved it.

X-Wing Alliance. Of course I never finished it. I couldn't get past a particular ID/escort mission. But I think the X-Wing series is one of the best video game series of all time. Why LucasArts is unwilling or unable to make a sequel is beyond human understanding.

either the KOTOR series or the Jedi Knight series. i can't decide.

Republic commando was good, but hard in places. Better ammo drops woulda been good in the Trandoshan ship....

I say either KOTOR or ESB, on the SNES.

Jedi Academy asn't too bad, and there's still THOUSANDS of mods out there:

So, still worth a pic up.

Oh, agreed! That's an awesome game with the new ship models installed.

Have you seen the mod for Freespace 2 done in the new Battlestar Galactica series mode? It's called, "Beyond the Red Line." Flying that Viper is sooo frakking schweeeet!

What about the 3 super star wars games for snes? Not very deep, but I loved those games as a kid. Of the modern lot, I really liked TFU for gameplay and KOTOR had the best story. But overall, my favorite games just to geek out on were the 2 rogue squadron games for gamecube. Love making the trench run with the surround sound on! :D

AHHH! The Rogue Squadron series!
I still have 2 and 3. The first one was great, but way too short.
They're all kinda short now that I think about it.

They really should make more space combat games these days. There aren't many left.

I agree. At least the RS games had the historic missions that were endlessly replayable and the other attempt at SW Space combat on the consoles (the starfighter/jedi starfighter series) were CRAP!

I really dig Battlefront II...I don't think killing Rebel troops as the Empire ever gets old, at least not for me.

They do have space battles in the game as well, which will allow you to pilot any of the space vehicles from all 6 films, not including the Blockade Runners or Star Destroyers - you have to protect those, or destroy your enemy's, to win the battle.

I also loved the Force Unleashed - best use of the force in any of the games in my opinion...both sides of the force can be used (Mastered), what's better than force lightning followed up with a saber throw and watching the enemy blow up?

KOTOR and II were awesome, but my main problem was the swords, yes I did not like the swords...at all...I understand why they're in the game (sort of), but c'mon...swords? And turn based combat kinda takes the fun out of the battle for me.

Well, we'll just have to wait for BF3, if it ever turns up.

Did they ever make an announcement abot that leaked video of it?

Also, no one has thankfully mentioned 'Galaxies'. If it had stayed pre NGE & CU format, I reckon that would been high on most peoples lists....

I haven't seen anything mentioned about it since then...that's a shame too...check out this picture of the Dark Side Obi Wan that was to be in the game...

Looks pretty cool...there was another picture too, but I can't post the link cuz it's blocked by my IT dept. at work...boo, but just google Dark Side Obi Wan and you'll see this picture and the other one.

X-Wing Alliance. Of course I never finished it. I couldn't get past a particular ID/escort mission.
If it's the mission I'm thinking of, did you install the 2.02 patch? It was supposed to fix that issue.

Beyond The Red Line
Fate of the Galaxy, Beyond The Red Line and Wing Commander Saga are shaping up to have lots of potential. Impressive, especially since they're built on an engine that must be ten years old by now.

Rogue Squadron and the Battlefront flying battles don't appeal to me. I'm going to sound awfully nerdy, but they're too arcadey and not enough like a flight simulator.

JA.

Especially after I'd edit things like the character attributes for almost all characters (give everyone more life points, and most "force people" more force power + allow some enemies to prevent certain force attacks from the player), mod sounds, install extra characters, etc.

Then... I used to edit empty maps and drop in a bunch of enemies in places and make a save game. Usually, I'd make it ridiculously hard... but yet give the "player character" 900 Force power, and the ability to regenerate force a lot more quickly.

It made it AWESOME. :)

Only limits were the amount of entities/characters the engine/game could handle. If you placed too many... = crash! :P But, whatever... my maps were HECTIC, challenging, and fun...

For example... check out THIS insane screenshot. That is just one example of the insanity.

Sometimes, I'd have like 8 Vaders and 2 Desanns and 4 Mauls or something. It was ROUGH. :D
