I'm a noob here and after fiddling with a Hasbro Force FX ROTS Obi-Wan, I wanted to build my own saber.

I wanted to start cheap (because I just knew I would make mistakes and I didn't want them to cost me $100 each)... so I went the sinktube + Force Action Hasbro board (should have read Rhyen Skytracker's thread on economy sound option before building this saber - would have saved me the trouble of buying a color changing Anakin :)). Still - here is how my first saber looks:

The only thing I'm a bit bummed about is the pommel - it seemed to be sticking out for no reason. It's just bad planning on my part - should have cut a longer piece of "brass" 1.5'' sink pipe. But in general, I'm pretty happy with the result and now I'm hooked (even after going through 3 other force action hasbro board :P) - and I know a whole lot more about what to do and not to do when saber building :)

Great first saber. I went through the same mistakes by buying different kinds of hasbro sabers only to find they don't have all the sounds or are very low quality sounds. That is the main reason I made the tutoria, to try to save other people the time and money of going through all the different types of hasbros. What type of LED did you use?

Yeah - didn't give too much information on what's inside.

LED is a Red Lux III
I'm using a 4-cell AA battery pack in there (using Ni-mH batteries)
Speaker I picked up from dismantling this: Thingie (http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=MP3_Speakers&product=1410078)
Blade is thin-walled 1'' polycarb bought from Tim (single wrap film + cello inside)

And thanks Rhyen for the tutorial... now that I read it, I know which one to avoid :)
