Now, with all the talk of diagrams and drawings and whatnot, wouldn't it be handy to have a repository someplace on these forums for drawings and technical schematics of different sabers and their associated parts that our members could download and print off for thier own saber building?

I know I use a ton of schematics and it might be handy for some of us to have everything in one place instead of scouring the internet for shoddy, inaccurate templates and such when building our sabers.

Tim, buddy, whaddya say?

Do mean like the CAD drawings on sitharchive or pictures like rebelscum's or tutorials like your "graflex" one??? That is a huge task or better to create a link archive maybe of spots to look.

I was thinking CAD drawings and similar fare. No, not tutorials, since that would take too mauch space.

The problem I see with links to sites is that someone would have to take on the responsibility of making sure the links continue to stay active and point towards where they go, what with domain names expiring and whatnot.

Whoo... CAD drawing are a double edged sword. They'd be nice but the drawer would have to have access to the sabers to get correct measurements.

How about pictures done from straight above like www.partsofsw.com does and label them? Label the parts used then maybe useful substitutes... I can see that. This reminds me of the Definative forum at ASAP in a sense.

Something like that would be great. Pictures, sources of materials, useful substitutes, templates for drilling and cutting...all of it in one spot.

We mightas well make TCSS the one-stop shop for ALL your saber needs, eh?

Case in point, I have a template for drilling the elongated oval holes on a tube to simpulate a Heiland or Micro Precision Products 3-cell flashgun. Pair that with a link to Blast-Tech or some description of cheaper substitute parts, plus a link to a tutorial on building the thing, you'd have a one-stop place for a Vader ANH/ESB or Anakin ATOC saber.

...just an idea

I see what you mean. The only thing is Tim wouldn't want a link to Blas-tech when he sells equivalent stuff like the grips and head piece... otherwise I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I think it's a bit of a stretch to pull together, but not out of the picture.

Well, I'm sure we could hammer out the details about what links to provide. I agree, no point in pointing towards competitors and taking business away from Tim.

Sounds fine to me..I am not even coming close to running out of bandwith or storage space etc.. So whatever you guys can dream up should be fine with me.

This sounds like an awsome idea.

Okay, how about we start with the "camera" flash sabers. This would be a lot easier than the prequel ones...
