Dang, looks like Meiv4's running ahead.
Darn my software trial running out! And I had such good ideas... ah well.

Hey, when exactly does the poll end?

Stryder,

How bout a combination of xwing's and Miev4's?... and let'em both win. I like element's of both.

I had thought of that at first, but my free trial ran out (And Xwing "copyrighted" the idea). The basic idea is to have the morphing sabers that Meiv and I did, but instead of morphing, the parts slide on and off. It's a cool idea, but one that we all ran out of time for.

Hmm. Now that I look at all of them together, I can see why Meiv's got such a huge lead. Mine moves slower because (1) I wanted everyone to get a good look at all the designs, and (2) it's a main page graphic, so it's better to have something slightly more "passive". Attention-grabbing, but more in the way of making people go "oooo, look at that, and that, and that..." rather than being just plain flashy (not that anyone else's is, I'm just stating my approach). Up next to Meiv's, it looks slow. I think it looks better by itself:

i kept mine moving kinda fast because its on the main page, along with like 2 lines of text, people arnt going to spend too much time staring at that so i wanted to let people see the possibilites without waiting to long to get to the buying of the pieces and designing thier own.

i ran out of time to do more because of school and work and whatnot.

My intent was to make them stare at it longer and then buy the parts, but your approach works too.

I only had a few days to put it together because my mom went of town and I was staying at a friend's house for several days.

Not a problem with me... now that the design phase really is over. The combos would have to be edited to a few because the files like to get bloated after a bit. That's mainly why I didn't go with that. Mine was just at 200Kb.

lol, countdown. I like that! Meiv4 definatly has the lead. He had the luxery of getting it done faster. Rather than do an alternate take on it I went a different route.

well if an elimination round were to be instituted I'd vote for 3,4,7,8 to be in the final round....

I too like the concept of combining Miev and Xwing's.....show the internals, vary the sabers, fade out showing internals.

but If I had to vote for just one right now it's be #4 (though #5 is awfully hard to ignore: well done!)

Reality often interferes with what would otherwise be an idyllic delusion.

I liked what you came up with. I would have loved to do something like that myself but that's not my field. One of those things I would like to learn but I don't even know what ya'll use.

I used AutoCAD (meiv4 used inventor which is a derivative of CAD) for the saber parts. It's not an easy program to learn.

The photoshop/imageready parts are actually pretty easy. All I did was position the parts turning the layers on and off then imageready made the animation for me.

Maybe when school's out I could add that to my plate. Some CAD and photoshop tutorials...
