I"m using the internal components of the title saber to build a custom saber that retracts/extends on its own (yah I know...). my question is, will the sound board/LEDs/other electronic components inside fry if I hook them up to a 9volt battery? I'm running a 9volt motor down in the hilt to retract the blade, and I was hoping I could use two 9volts for the power (one for the motor, one for the special fx). If that won't work, any reccomendations would be appreciated.

In a word, YES. You cannot use 9V to power the board and LED, you will fry them.

I don't know if you're been lurking her before you registered, but please do some reading. And try the Search function.

Voltage for these boards has been addressed before.

You can get a voltage regulator to reduce the voltage down to about 5 Volts, but if you are usinf 9 volt batteries, you won't get much life out of them.

That voltage regulator will also get somewhat hot trying to reduce 9 volts to 5 volts...it may require it's own heatsink.

I agree, I use 6 volts on those cards all the time and haven't had any problems, but I do know that it can not take 7 volts or above.
