Hey Everyone,
I thought it would be a cool idea for everybody to post what rendering program they use with a pic to show what the finished product would look like. 3D, 2D, Paint etc. Anything is game.

I like to use the MHS saberbulder http://www.saberbuilder.com/
the pic is in my signature.

I usually just do line drawings in illustrator cs. If I am feeling really ambitious i will export it to photoshop and cut and paste metal texture photo fills. he is a line drawing:

I GO with Autodesk inventor. Allthough i havent figure out how to actually print with colored pictures.... the program is so amazing. you can render the designed product to any known material. with any finish. this was the basic design to "The Gaurdian" (Pictured in my signature) Its a big program and i havent begun to tap its power. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp286/DJMoonbass/0207090859.jpg

I am trying to use blender. It is free and can output awesome designs. It has a steep learning curve though and I don't have alot of time to learn it.

just to be clear...

www.saberbuilder.com is NOT the MHS builder...

SaberBuilder has pre-colored parts (to show different styles of powder coating for your builds).. it also has parts NOT made or even available in the TCSS store front..some do NOT exist anywhere..and would need to be custom made.. they are are 'fantasy' parts crerated by users & submitted to be available in the Cust Saber Builder application.

the MHS builder is available & connected to the TCSS store front..and only uses the parts Tim sells in the store I believe..

p.s. you can turn OFF the thread hints in the application so you dont have 'threads' visible in your picture you save.. ;)

I used to use the render templates that were posted here before saberbuilder, then when saberbuilder.com and later the new MHS builder came out here I 'saved' the parts available in them to make new templates since the old mkIII render template and variations didnt have all the powdercoat colours like sun gold or the newer TCSS parts...now I just edit them pixel by pixel in MS Paint when I want to make custom parts or designs...slow but simple enough even for me lol

Yeah, I'm partial to the MKIII templates as well.;)

I've used tons of CAD programs... way beyond the neess if you just want a picture because it's the same type of deal Tim and other machinists use.

I've used: AutoCAD, Pro/E and Solidworks.
