I found these nifty little screw covers for button head screws at Lowes today and though I would share them with all of you. They make decent fake lightsaber activation buttons/knobs.

They come in different sizes (for different sized screws) and different colors. The colors are white, brown and black. The ones in the pics are black. In the first pic below, the screw cover on the left is for #4 and #6 screws and the screw on the right is for #8 and # 10 screws. The screw on the left is a 6/32 thread and the screw on the right is a 8/32 thread (screws not included).

The other two pics show the #8-#10 screw cover mounted to a 1.5" OD aluminum tube.

Once closed, they are hard to open back up but it can be done.

They are 68 cents for a bag of two.

good find. Do they come off easily?

Yes. The screw holds them on to the metal. To put them on, insert the screw through the hole, tighten the screw, then close the cap. Just reverse that procedure to remove them.

Ooo! You could even use them as secret poison pill containers should homeland security .. errr .. the Empire catch you!

Seriously though, that's a nice idea for those covers.

That's certainly better than seeing the screww heads. To me they always seem to spoil the illusion of the saber being made with advanced tech.

If these appeal, you can buy chromed ones quite cheap on the interweb as well. If you Google "pro-dec", you'll see the site.

I'm ahead of you guys. I used them to hide the screws that are holding PVC blade holder, connector and inverter in my sink tube EL saber:

Tim also has screw covers, under "Sink Tubes & Misc" in the Store. They are only one size, and they are not snap covers, but he carries copper- and gold-toned ones.
