Sweet!

I like the first one and the slotted one.

Will these be a direct replacement to the stock ones?

Edit: On second thought... That was a dumb question...

Personally, I love 1,3,4,5, and will get 1 of each! I already have a #6, for one of my EL hilts (for 3/4" blade).
I like the last shape, for a pommel. Just gottal plug the hole, somehow. NM - pre-made speaker hole!!!!

Awesome! I especially like this one:

Ok I am ready to make my order for at least one of each[:D]

2, 3, and 4 I really like. will 2 have the option to be sized to fit in a sink pipe?

I already am coming up with a saber idea with that #4[8D]

1, 3, 4 .......choices, choices.......

Hmmmm.
IF I can get a female to female with a pre-drilled/ counter sunk switch hole like the main body I'll be all set........

the hard part will be deciding how to cut an overlying sink tube to best effect.

These will basically all be the same diameter as the hilt/extension/ribbed sections. The way the original one was bigger made them not look as nice as they could have. 1 and 5 will be bigger overall but where they mount will be the same as the rest.

Almost enough parts to make an Obi EP 3-4 saber. Great.
Any plans for an Obi pommel? Graflex clamps etc?

Why Tim, why? Why do you make me want to spend all my money? I only have so much to spend at a time, and I refuse to quit airsoft. On the other side, I see you're making an emitter similar to that one you made for the EL sabers.

Question?
How will they connect to the rest of the hilt?
the renderings seem to show them as female attachments.
Aren't the other blade holder/emitters male?

I didn't see this question asked yet.....perhaps because it's obvious and I just missed it?

Yeah, the renders are correct. The part on the bottom is male... there just isn't threads there. Putting threads on a render is a lot of work.

Just seen the new emitter designs (5 and 7), and boy are they sweet! 5 is just brilliant, though I'm also liking the simplicity and elegance of 7. Nice work, Tim!

I'm curious about style number 5- why is it so much more expensive than the other ones? The new emitters and pommels look awesome though, I am SO building a few of these sabers really soon. I want a lightstaff thst converts to two swords, and a friend wants a single saber for her Jedi kit.

Lots of detail that is non repetative (#3 is that same groove over and over) but mostly material cost I'm guessing. The emitter extends past the 1.5" meaning a larger stock of metal needs to be used and prices increase exponentially with size (because it's volume instead of linear 2d size like we think).

Ahh, that's it then- I love that emitter, and may well end up going for it- but I will probably end up buying one of the other designs first, then saving up for that really nice one.
I wonder if any other styles are coming out? I would love a pommel like the one on Barriss Offee's saber.

I will see if I can find one- it's similar to one of strydur's (the cone shaped one with the flat end), but it's got a funky little knob where the flat part is. I will definately see if I can find a picture of that.

Actually if the one at www.thelightsaber.com is accurate it's a beveled lip like Qui-Gon's.

I think a Ki-Adi-Mundi emitter is similar and doable.

I would love to see some parts like the pommel and emitter here:

And here's the pommel I was talking about- take a look at the end of this saber, you will see the knob I was referring to:

Strydur, you think something like these might be do-able? Just more ideas for an already awesome selection.

Like this?:

http://www.thelightsaber.com/HistorySabers/SmallPics/MaraEHSM.jpg

That'd be really hard to do. You'd need some heavy drilling and whatnot. And I don't think they're in high enough demand for Tim to keep them in stock with pre-drilled holes.

As for the emitter... it's too hard to see.

EDIT:
I have seen something very close to this hilt done before. I think there's something in that 3,000-page-long saber picture thread in the misc. section.

NooB1Kenobi
05-17-2006, 07:21 PM
Well the holes wouldnt have to be drilled... I'd apply them another way... Besides Aluminum is easy to drill... I know Strydur told me he could do those grooves in the hilt for me and that he's done it before..
I could probably modify an emitter to look like that. Then just use a small round aluminum and put a hole in the emitter to fit it in or something.. Now where could I get the rubber grip though?? [;)]

What about getting some straight jamb strips and cutting them to size then you could screw or rivit them in. rubber grip? How about shopping around NAPA?

Style 8 is sweet- I can't wait for it to be added to the options in the MHS saber builder, so I can see what it looks like when compared to style 5, the other expensive one.

I know that mara jade saber somebody posted would be hard, but what about the pommels and emitters on the two I posted links for? Those look a little more do-able. One of the pommels is very close to one of the offerings here, it's just a bit longer and has a knob on the end.

xwingband
05-18-2006, 03:23 PM
If Tim ever does a 1.25" to 1.5" adapter it shouldn't be hard to do a Mara Jade saber in spirit. The bottom is just strips riveted on. The top has a lip but otherwise is just the t-grips around the way.

Amanita, the style 8 should look identical to the 5 from the side. Only difference appears to be the obvious drilled holes.

There is a bit more than that. 8 has one more sholder on the neck, and 5 has the bit extending from the emitter.

Does anyone have the dimensions for the type-7 emitter? I need the diameters at the tip and at the base (the widest part of the cone, not the threaded section)and the length between the two. I'm trying to design a part to add on to this, and I need to be able to accurately model this section to make my part right.
