The category of Grey Jedi is pretty broad, and I don't think that there are any concrete definitions, but at the very least, it means that you're a good jedi who doesn't mind defying the council on certain issues that you disagree with such as marriage, etc. It means that you probably believe that emotion is not bad, neither is deep love, and that you might even pursue powers and abilities that have traditionally been considered "darkside" powers. You probably believe that even anger can be a tool, when it is controlled and used to your advantage, that is, to give you courage, strength, and an iron resolve. Your logic is: It's not what you use, it's how you use it. More extreme examples of grey jedi might even claim to be truly neutral on all issues, with a kind of "what's in it for me?" attitude, but most are lightside guys who don't agree with the traditional views of the council. Moreover, Grey Jedi consider the stoic aloofness and distant approach of the council to be impersonal, apathetic, and a kind of evil in and of itself.

This is not a perfect definition, but it's my understanding.

Exactly, DeserScorpion.
Anakin (before he turned), Master Nejaa Halcyon, Qui-Gon Jinn, and some even consider Mace Windu to be Grey Jedi. They are good Jedi, they just aren't as "absolute" in interpreting the Jedi Code as others are. The reason why some believe Mace as a Grey Jedi is because he does get so intense and lets his emotions flow. (read Shatterpoint) Basically before Anakin as Vader wiped out the Jedi Order, it was getting pretty corrupt, sorry to say, but true. Nowhere in the Jedi Code does it actually say that you can't marry etc. It was all on how they interpreted it. If you really want to get into it, according to the old ways, everybody in the new Jedi Order are all Grey Jedi![:D]
