I was walking through Menards yesterday with a MHS hilt tube in my hand looking for ideas to create some kind of sled assembly for a saber.

I ran across these and thought some of you might find them useful:

They cost 2 bucks and they’re 4” long and have a wall thickness of .030”. They fit perfect in a MHS hilt tube and can act as an insulating liner or even an electronics sled. They’re pretty sturdy and should be able to be cut open while maintaining their integrity if done properly. For those of us trying to run 6 AA in their saber, room has always been an issue. 6 AA’s fit perfect in this tube when stacked in a pyramid configuration. It’s just a matter of coming up with end pieces to hook everything up in series and making it a custom 9v battery holder that is only 4” long.

I ran across this too. It fits a little tight and will require some sanding on the OD to make it usable. This tube has a wall thickness of .060”

Nice find, thanks for sharing. I think I'll look for some of those socket covers so I can work out my sled designs.

That is an AWESOME find!

Looks like I need to make a run to Menard's Socket covers eh? I must have passed those up at least a dozen times while scouring the aisles at Menards...

If you can’t find them locally, here’s some places on the Web.

DM...

They were in the electrical/light department.

 I kinda figured that, being they are Westinghouse...

Heh Heh.

I was just meaning that I have probably looked right at them a few times with passing interest because I was there for other reasons. There seems to be a lot of parts that I make a mental note of and forget about coming back to later.

Thanks for the tip Cade!

Methinks I will be picking quite a few of these up in the near future to play with.
