I have an old MR ANH luke saber, and it must be one of the old models cos it takes 6 AA batteries, and I read here the newer ones run off 4. does anyone know what voltage they run off?

and I have been told its difficult to hook an EL up to this soundboard setup.. can anyone help with this?

each batt. is 1.5 volt so add it up.

You dont know the POWER, of the dark side...

I have not had an older MR to test but it has been said that the sound board runs off of a lower voltage than the blade. The newer MR sabers have three batteries so it is possible that the older sound board runs off of 4.5 volts also.

With exception to the EL models, all MR sabers run on 4.5 volts, even the 6 cell versions.

Ok thanks ultra, thats what I wanted to make sure of. I think to adapt that to an EL blade I suppose I will need to extend my hilt to accomodate for a new battery setup exclusively for the soundboard.
At the moment thats the only way I can think of to hook it up..

Reaver you can use a 7805 which is a 5 volt voltage regulator to power the sound board without using an additional battery pack.

I also have an old master anh luke saber.i took it apart for basically everthing inside.i tryed to connect a luxeon lll led to it.everthing worked but the led was very very weak.and i can not figure out why.if the answer is somewhere else I AM SORRY X-WING IF YOU ARE BACK.i looked around but couldnt find an answer so if anyone can help that would be a big help

Check your wiring to make sure that you have it connected properly and check for loose connections. If you have a multi meter check the voltage at the led then hook it up for current and check how much current you have to power the led. If this doesn't work then post pictures of your wiring and a diagram if possible.

all of the wiring is the same as it was when it came out of the replica handle.the only differnce is the led took place of the old blade.i dont have a voltage meter i guess i am going to have to get one.thanks here is a diagram i dont know if it will help http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/saber417/MRguts.jpg
i can make it a little bigger if that will help

A larger image would be nice I can't make out enough detail on that one.

One question though when you removed the el blade was there a seperate board to run the el blade instead of the sound board?

Did you connect your led to the same point as the el blade was connected?

I know that was two questions but if you have your led connected to the same point as the el was then it is not going to work. It will require some reworking to make it work properly.

i dont want to sound stupid but i dont really know.the way it came out of the hilt is exactlly the way it is now except for the led hook up to where the el use to be.and yes i did hook the led to the same point as the el blade. so that would explain that not working. thank you and i am trying to get a larger image but photobucket is not giving me a bigger one i will keep trying thank you for the help

Ok saber I took a look at your diagram and the way you have it connected it will not work. I would need to know a few things about the circuit to help you modify it to work with a led. You said that you didn't have a multi-meter correct. You need to get one so you can take some measurments for me and then I can help you set it up for the led. Also please take a good picture of the circuit boards and wiring as it is which will also help. If the circuit was in front of me then it would be a snap to do.
