I got a hasbro lightsaber a few years back (2005-2007 maybe) and I was wondering if i could use the sound card out of it with a lux 3, 9v battery pack, and a resistor (really have to hold back on the frills) in a sink tube set up. Now for the really hard part... I can't seem to find the same sound card in any previous threads. If can help I have a pic from the web of the same saber.

If I have to, I could save up some more and upgrade the resistor to a driver.

I can post a pic of the board sometime tomorrow if I need to.

Well, nine volts are very bad for run times, and since that saber runs on D cells you should get either a 4 aaa or 4aa pack from the store. A driver would be best because it will give your led the best brigtness and flicker effect. It should run on a resistor.

The batteries make all the difference I suppose. But I'm still not sure on how to wire the sound board in. The clash sensor seems to be hard wired directly to the sound card. And my camera doesn't want to focus right tonight. You get a 8 megapixel camera, and the pictures look like they came out of a 0.5 megapixel.

Those pictures are too blurry to really see anything... See if your camera has a "macro" or "close up" setting. It will eliminate the blur.

9V will fry a hasbro. You have to keep it below 6V. 4.8V is what most use.

You don't use a resistor with a sound card. The sound card takes the place of it.

My little sister was "playing" photographer and changed the settings, I got some clearer pics after changing them back.

you would just wire it like it was before, led leads to the led, speaker leads to the speaker, ect. It's pretty simple actually.

Wow, really that simple? But I still need to get the 4 AA or 4 AAA pack and driver right?

The board IS the driver! That is the most common misconception.

Yeah, you still need a 4AA/AAA pack.

if you can get your hands on a 3 aa battery pack use that, you want the equivilent to 4.5 volts if you go any higher you will kill the board.

OHHH ok, I would have never guessed that. So that saves $50. You guys have help a huge amount already, but what about a power switch, do I need to wire one into my board, or use the existing mom. button there?

use the one there, it will save you money and time, seeing as the switch is mounted to the board.

Thanks, this has been a big help in my head and my wallet. So now I'm off to see the store on prices for the remaining components I require.

oh and one of the store speakers get one of those, it will make much better sound then the original one. and anpother thing what do you plan on building with sinktube, mhs, or what? because If you know what you want I can help you get a list of parts.:)

I was leaning toward a sink tube because the mhs stuff seemed too uniform. After all, a real jedi builds his/her own lightsaber from the ground up... says the guy using a hasbro card lol. I really like the look of the red/orange led after playing kotor with a heart of the guardian crystal. It just has more attitude than red, but also has that hint of the light side.

what size of sinktube? if you go 1.25 you will need the 1.25 blade holder, if you go 1.5 you need a sinktube to mhs adapter and then choose a blade holder from the store. the 1.25 saber will be smaller and cheapr. hope I made sense:)

Makes since to me. I was thinking a 1.25" tube would be best. One of my friends would most definitely steal it if I got the slightly bigger one.

Edit:
would adding in one of the leds from the store change the config. much?

Sairon

okay I got a list of stuff you will need.:)

1.25 blade holder
lux three red/orange led
1.25 sinktube (duh)
blade of choice (I'd go with the tcss show blade)
5 degree lens
lux three lense holder
premium speaker

and whatever else you think you want:)

and no it won't change the configurations at all:)

Thank you so much. When I finally get this put together, my friends will run in terror. For some reason, they've got it in their head that I can make a real working lightsaber. lol

yeah my friends thought that too, good luck with your saber, and don't forget to post pics.

Yeah, I will, once I save the money to build it first. yikes!
