Well, nine months in and after I don't even want to think about how much investment made, I finally got one of the two lightsabers I'm making done. This one is actually a (likely somewhat late) Christmas present for my brother. When I was at home on mid-tour leave, I showed my brother the saber builder and he played around with it, and we talked about what goes into it - he's going to college for electrical engineering, and has an MR Obi-Wan that I mentioned converting to a Luxeon.

But Christmas came around, and he happened to mention that the "best" gift he could think of to get would be another lightsaber. And the rest, as they say, is history.

It's running a blue (unknown bin) K2 via Ultrasound 2.0 with a 4.8 2600 mAh NIMH battery pack from the store. The switch is a regular momentary SPST switch, also from the store, which I had only a few problems with. Now that I've got it pre-programmed, it should be okay. Still acts funny on occasion, but nothing that a quick kill-keying doesn't fix. Parts are all standard MHS.

Lightsaber off, with flash, lights on.

Lightsaber on, no flash, lights off as I could get (I live in a bay, so they're not all mine.)

I think he'll be pleased. (And I finally got a damn saber working! WOO! :D )

the thing I like about that saber is that it looks "standard issue". I don't mean that in a bad way. In fact, it has a militaristic look too it. Maybe your bro and Erv could collaborate in the future on CF improvements. Things in electronics seem to get smaller and smaller so maybe the CF will someday be the size of a dime.

Great work, Kant... I understand how busy you must be with all the other things in your life (people's lives in GENERAL)... :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what 2009 has in store for us all...

I also want to see Malaki's board:), bUt I also say that your saber Kant does look sort of bland, mabye add some grips, but it isn't my choice.

Normally, I'd agree with you. When my brother designed it - it is his saber, remember - I mentioned powdercoating, grips, and such, but he said he wanted something very clean and simplistic, and that's what he designed. His saber, his call.
