i was reading the description of the 4khz inverter and was wondering if it has a failsafe on it that provents it from being blown up when powered on without the blade attatched.

curtainguy,
I haven't read on it, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. What you need to do is wire-up a 1 MOhm resistor in paralel with the blade. That way, even if the blade is disconnected, there is still a load on the circuit. Again, look at Tim's tutorials, they are great.

Until the manufacturer actually tells me otherwise, I do not guarantee they will not blow if turned on without a load. But, that being said I have turned my test sabers on many times and have never blown a inverter that I sell.

Tim, I suppose it may make a difference depending on how long you leave it on without a load. Like hanging the hilt from your belt and accidentally turning it on and not knowing it for a couple of hours. Just a thought...I haven't tried it yet. Hmmm, not sure I will [:D]
