First, does anyone know the length of Tim's 12v 8AAA battery pack? If it's shorter than Tim's 6AA pack, I may very well be able to get a soundcard in my saber.

And second, has anyone had a problem with the MHS choke style 2 breaking if it's used for dueling?

An 8AA pack is the same length and the 6AA - there's just two more stacked on top.

And I've never heard of anyone breaking a METAL part... but I suppose if you're dueling to the death, you'll want to be sure... ;)

Maybe he thinks the choke is made of 2 pieces that are press fit? Instead one one machined piece? Or that it would be weak at the bottom threads?

Eastern57, note that I'm asking about the 8AAA battery holder, not an 8AA battery holder.

And Loreen, I've read the reviews for the double female hilt style 4, and there's a couple reviews about the piece breaking at the threads. I was wondering if the choke has any tendencies like that.
So, yes, weak at the bottom threads.

Doh, sorry  :p

The 8AAA is shorter but fatter than the 6AA

The 8AAA is just 2 cells long whereas the 6AA is 3 cells long. Plus AA batteries are longer than AAA batteries ;)

Thanks Lord Maul.
That sounds perfect. There's hardly any room left in my hilt for a sound board and the high forward voltage of my Lux V means I don't think I can run a board with just 9v output.
I'm sensing a new battery pack in my future...;)

novastar speaks the truth, look into some 14500s or 18650s

There were a couple people saying that about sh#4 breaking on the bottem, I have seen a couple results but I dont know if they were from dueling or if it was a machining error..

Tim replied to the message in the store. He said that if you request it they can either

A) Not machine as deep on the last bit where the female threads are
b) Not machine there at all

I think redesigning it so the grip style is moved farther up the hilt section.

Well, the only way I can imagine any stress getting put on that part of the hilt would be if the SH#4 hilt was 'backwards', with the button hole towards the bottom of the hilt, and the weak area at the top.
I guess just don't use the part like that, eh?
