Okay, here is my next project... I have everything needed, I think, However it is not all shown in the photos. I need some advice about how to wire this setup without frying the board and a diagram would be awesome. Also do I need a relay or something like that ? I am using 6 volt power
(4 X AA). The other pictures are My first ever sink tube saber and a PVC Hilt I designed for my son. 897

I think thats a 4 AAA pack, otherwise it wouldn't fit in the saber.

as for the wiring, you should get a 5v 1a voltage regulator from radio shack, a 4AAA pack will put out 6 volts which could conceivably fry the hasbro board.

4 AAA pack would be a good idea. the 5v 1a voltage regulator would work fine and its inexpensive. Or you could run the hasbro board off of a/couple of buck-pucks. most perspectivly 1 or 2 700mA. But the only problem with that would be you don't have enough room as far as I can see... My 2 cents.8)

OK I got a 5V 1a regulator, and I already had a 4AAA battery holder. Is this the diagram that I should follow ??? Is there another that would be better??

I think the regulator needs to go between the batteries and the board.

Yes, it does.

Thats what I was thinking, but this is the diagram I was instructed to follow the other day. I don't remember seeing a diagram like "I Think" I need recently? Jay do you or JL remember one ?

Who instructed you to follow it? It doesn't look right, to me, but I've never wired a circuit using a regulator before.

But intuitively, since you're trying to lower the voltage going to the board, it seems like the regulator should go between the board and batteries.

Exactly, I got some faulty info. thats why I have not started on the saber yet. i fried 2 hasbro boards and didn't want to do it again, want to make sure my Ducks are all in a row. LOL

OPther people have used those boards from the Force Action sabers on 4-AAA's just fine....I'm not sure you even need the regulator.

I got them somewhere between 2002 - 2003 if I remember right. I fried the first 2 because I tried to run them straight from the 4 pack. Next will be the one out of a hasbro Windo. I have an OBI but I don't want to destroy it, my son loves it. It only has power up/down and idle hum/clash, No swing

Any recommendations on a thread diagram?

Huh? Not sure exactly what you're asking for.

Ok, I did one of these the low-tech way. I soldered a wire onto the battery holder so that three batts fed the Hasbro (4.5v) and all four fed the buckpuck. I had the same config as you with the relay, except that it turned my buckpuck on and off. If you use a power transistor, then it needs to go on the positive that's feeding the soundboard.

I still don't know what he meant by a "thread diagram". :p

I figured it out J Lo, Now I am having trouble with the switch, LOL it never ends..

get a different switch?
