Likey? Not sure if I should put this under MR mod or custom...
What makes this saber special is not it's looks, although I am quite proud of that part, but it's ability to change color. Any color.
See the 3 little knobs on the side? RGB baby! You want purple, you've got purple. Pink, yellow, red, green, blue, aqua, white? You've got it!

At the time of thier construction Tim did not offer an LED diffuser, they have since been refitted with a new blade and diffuser from TCSS. The ones pictured are bead blasted PolyC.

Hello To everyonehere! Some great Light sabers in here!
Well, here is the making off my very first luxeon Led Lighsaber. The sound and light kit is "from plecter labs".
The Blade is a polycarbonate one (2cm diameter, not 2,5 cm like MR) and a cyan luxeon star 3W ;)
I've just wanted to make one "look like "the graflex one, but personnalised in the main time. And I tryed to make it "roots" like it seens a lot of battles! So, I made it as dirty as I could!!!
It is really not as nice than others downthere, but it is my first one!;)
Hope you'll like it.

Here is my custom saber based on one of the Big Yellow Box designs but modified. Since I’m Scottish I wanted it to have the feel of a large Scottish Claymore Sword, so most of the handle is covered in black bumpy suede with red stitching. It has a metal momentary switch and metal Covertec button. It has a white 3watt Luxeon with Hasbro sound.
No blade yet, need to save up!

The pommel
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1925/dscf01090kx.jpg
The emitter.
The pommel was the lid to a cantine i had in my closet. I grinded out the threading for it to fit my saber and speaker. I obviously drilled holes for speaker vents. The emitter is graflex style. I was gonna make a graflex replica with this section of umbrella pole, but i decided to just use it in my LED saber before i finished. I can't wait to put grips on this thing.

Hi All,
Building a lightsaber on a single concept...
An Exposed Crystal that ignites with POWER...
http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/Lightsabers/hilts/Picture117.jpg
I came up with this.

http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/Lightsabers/hilts/nautilus07.jpg

http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/Lightsabers/hilts/nautilus05.jpg
http://www.geocities.com/projectstm/Lightsabers/hilts/nautilus06.jpg
The hilt was machined by me and further modified by Random Sabers.
The hilt contains TWO(2) Lux 3 - 1 red and 1 white - on custom made heatsinks.
The blade uses three layers 2'x3' mylar film and is silver when not lit.
Parts of the hilts have been treated with Aluminum Black for a weathered look.
This was my fisrt LED lightsaber.
Further details on it can be found here:

This is a new saber I just finished, it is a machined aluminum hilt with a white Atlas white led running at 1000ma driven by a luxeon led driver and running on 12 volts. The led is rated at 250 lumins and the blade is a 36 inch long 1 inch diameter polycabonate tube with a single wrap of Corbin's blade film. The blade is so bright I had to take a picture outdoors in the shade in order to get a decent picture. The other blade picture is in a lighted room but it is just a blur.

All machined by me and houses Erv's new Crstal Focus electronics. Uses a K2 luxeon (130 lm) and powered from a 4xAA nimh pack. It has a recharge port but thats on the bottom so cant be seen in the picture.
The led in the bezel is wired up as the low battery indicator.
The on/off switch is totally recessed and theres nothing sticking out from the hilt so its nice to duel with.

Well, I finally built my double-bladed green hilt. I used to bright green K2s, 6v from 4 AA alkalines each, run through a 1.5ohm 5w resistor. The pics don't come close to showing the true color of the blades. I finally used my 1.5" sink tube MHS adapters, and two of the original emitter #1s. The grips are self-adhesive craft foam.

My last saber designed for Celebration Europe in July. I think it has everything I ever wished for a saber... All aluminium, K2@ 1.5A + Crystal Focus V2.1. I might move to a lux V though. Dual Film Plecter Blade, rumbling motor in the hilt, aux button (blaster, blade lockup, force push Fx) and a bargraph with blinking/sequenced LED + progressive power on LEDs. I fell in love with the grip MadCow used. I couldn't find the exact same material but I used a reversed timing belt instead. The fiber aspect of this side of the belt is interesting I think.
I called this saber "Telum Infensus". It comes from Latin, Telum means a thin weapon like a javelin and it means also "beam of light". Infensus is an adjective for "ready to strike". Pretty cool name, I'm happy of my research !
You can see a video of this saber here :

It's not entirely finished, but it's getting there! There are currently no electronics, but I have a green lux III ready to go, or I could go with a blue lux III. It awaits a Darth Maul F/X soundboard, courtesy of or own Jonitus, and will run on 4 AA's.

Finished this up last night

Needed something to house my crystal focus v2 in for CE so whipped this up in the last couple of days.

actually, I made 4 of them, and called my customers the "fantastic 4" Grin But I had to ship one in emergency for a conv, so one is missing for the family picture.
A re edition of my dark side saber and its custom emitter. Lux III @1.5A (red and re-o). Crystal focus 2.5 and deluxe speaker, 4 AA 2600 mAh niMH battery pack.
One has a special grip which was originally designed by Arkos, on a saber called Anduin, in reference to the Lord of the Rings (the gap between the 2 halves of the grip mat represents this river).

It’d been a while but here’s my latest saber. Custom hilt, four mhs claws, 1.25" Sink tube LED/Blade holder, skateboard grip tape for grips, green 3watt luxeon and MR sound card.
I bought the hilt of ebay, it originally had another blade holder but I decided not to use it because: one, it only had a 3/4” hole (I prefer the 1” inch blades) and two, it added an extra two and a half inches to the hilt and I thought it looked out of proportion. You can see it next to the saber on the bottom pic.
I was a bit worried about the sound coming out, as the pommel is a solid piece of aluminium an inch long and I didn’t fancy drilling through it with a hand drill. But the sound comes out the top holes ok. It seems to sound better as well, instead or the sound coming out the bottom of the saber it seems to come from the saber its self!
One of the other holes goes right through to the optics so it lights up when the sabers on, you can see it on the 5th and 6th pics.

Unlike the last build he did for his friend, he decided to use 24kt gold leaf to decorate the neck area rather than use the same material offered in Yoda's copper upgrade kit for the MR Luke ROTJ. I think it turned out really good, and with the clear epoxy that he used to seal it, it should last for a very long time.

All machined and wired by Macow of genesis custom lightsabers, with Crystal focus v 2.5 from Plecter Labs, Blue k2 driven at 1.5A, and 4.8v NiMH built buy Madcow.
All I did after was paint the blue in the grooves and on the activator, and I built a blade plug from some thin walled poly C and inserted a real Quartz crystal with a 1" diameter.

Well here’s my newest saber. The front half is a custom hilt that I got of ebay, the back half is a Luke ROTJ ribbed section with a TCSS MPS Pommel style 4 and insert style 1. It also uses the Luke activation box.
When I first got the custom hilt the back half was a small gas canister. It was really flimsy and I couldn’t get into it, so I replaced it with the Luke ribbed section. It also had some leather effect vinyl on it which I replaced with some real leather.
It has a white K2 with lee filter, No. 049 Medium Purple. For sound I used a MR Mace board.
The only problem with it is that the blade holder is just less than 1 inch ID, so the only blade that fits, without sanding, is a stock MR blade. Also the blade holder is only 2 inches deep, it couldn’t go any deeper because of the thin neck part. With the K2 and the optics in there, the blade only goes in 1 inch! So no hardcore duelling with this. The neck piece makes it excellent for spinning.

Here's a few nearly finished pictures of my Proto2 "Prototype Version 2" saber. This saber does not yet have the clash flash circuit and optics in it, as I'm working on a few different options for those right now. Also, after taking these photo's I cut about 4" off the blade length and installed the vibration motor. So the blade is VERY well balanced now and you can feel the blade-power in your hand.
Some notes on this version
- Quick change LED setup (each LED has it's own heat sink, optic, and plug)
- Green Luxeon V overdriven at 1 amp. Probably around 180 lumens?
- Red-Orange K2, overdriven at 1 amp. Guessing around 130 lumens?
- Small cell phone type vibration motor installed near emitter.
- Thickest polycarbonate tube TCSS sells
- 5 degree lens, Erv's Crystal diffuser film + Cellophane wrap for light diffusion
- Crystal Focus 2.5+ driver board (clash flash firmware loaded)
- SOUND FONTS: Standard, Ancient Saber, My custom (altered Novastar config), Darkstar
- MUSIC: Van Halen-Eruption, ZZ Top-??, TCSS theme sone, Darth Vader Breathing
- Batteries 12 NiMH AAA 900mAh cells (cells doubled, 6 doubles in series for 7.2v)
- My voice on the soundbank selection menu :)
- Deluxe speaker in tuned chamber at pommel. Tuned for maximum base and loudness.

http://home.comcast.net/~eandori/TCSS_2.JPG
Here, it's sitting next to a Luke RoTJ master replica with full batteries in a well lit room.
http://home.comcast.net/~eandori/TCSS_3.JPG
Here it is with the Red-Orange K2.
http://home.comcast.net/~eandori/TCSS_4.JPG
Some things to be weary of...
- If you quick change LED's with different forward voltages BE SURE TO POWER CYCLE YOUR BOARD. Or you will fry the low Vfw LED's!
- Be sure that no "extra" files end up on your SD-Flash card
- EVERY TIME you copy new files to the flash, format the whole thing (FAT-16) then copy ALL files in one big move.
- When you have a new setup in the saber, try all the configs with your main LED disconnected first.
Finally, here is an early video of the saber in it's first stages of testing. I'll have a better video made and posted later. (this link will be replaced then)

Two new finished sabers. I bought both the hilts of ebay but ended up waiting nearly 3 months on them arriving!! The guy started to blame it on the postal strikes over here but they only lasted a couple of weeks not three months!!!! It was the same guy Barmic Rin mentioned in this thread.
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3166&highlight=
There not the best put together hilts I’ve bought, they’re just glued together, the only screws are the ones to keep the pommels in! I ended up having to add more screws so that they wouldn't fall apart. These will be more for display than for dueling with.
Anyway, They’ve been laying around for about a month or so now and I finally got them finished. The firsts one is for a friend (the one with the Japanese style wrap, which I added myself) the other am keeping just now but might end up selling it.
My friend had asked me to make him a saber for his tattoo studio, as a decorative light, but because that would go through a s**t load of batteries he wanted it to be powered through the mains. So I wired them up so that either the batteries or a power adaptor can power them. Both have the same set up apart from the LEDs, my friends has a blue 3w luxeon and my one has a white K2. Both are powered by a 1000mA BuckPuck with 4AAA batteries/power adapter. No sound.

I used a quick connector so that the batteries can be disconnected and the 2.1mm Power Jack can be connected. The power adaptor can then be plugged in and used to power the sabers.

Chaos, I was just wondering about where i'd put the switch for my Zayne Carrick 'KOTOR' hilt, and you solve the problem for me!!
I'll be going Amber/Yellow instead of white though.
Anyway..... This one isn't 100% done, need to do the Pommel, but thought i'd post on this as i've been going on for months about it.
My bro's 3W white 'Tribal' saber.
I used scrap Chamios leather from a craft store for the skin, cut it roughly, then just glued in place.
Also glued the strapping, you can see where the glue has darkened the straps in the close up pic, but that's fine as I wanted to look roughly built. May add another, different strapping later on, not too sure if that'd be too much though.

My latest one for a customer. Probably the last for this year, at least until we find a house where I can put my bench and lathe.
Like it's written at the back of the pic :
- cyan lux III overdriven @1.5A by a crystal focus 3.0
- custom bargraph and progressive power on indicator in between the 2 buttons
- activator is the top switch, aux button the lowest
- all custom machined out of airgrade aluminium and polished
- variation of my Telum Infensus
- Jedi Journey kit including a spare kill plug and a power level indicator unit as a keychain. A force crystal should join the keychain ring very soon
if you have questions to ask / discuss / review / comment about this saber, let xwing (moderator) to create a child thread about that !

Aside from some natural tarnishing of the brass and the addition of a Covertec knob to the body, this saber is done!
It turned out exactly as I had conceptualized and the quality is right where I would expect it to be. I myself would be proud to have this in my collection. That is not to be, however. In a couple of days, it will be put up for sale. I hope you enjoy the pictures of the saber as much as I do. I got to tell you, I am really pleased with this one. Heck, building sabers like this, in this manner, is true to why I began doing this stuff in the first place. Enjoy.

I bought this on fleaBay. It is a version of the Secret Apprentice's saber from The Force Unleashed. It is relatively well made, but electronics are mediocre. I had to rewire it out of the box, but 616 electronics work now.
I included a thumbnail as a taste, the rest of the pix are on photobucket.

this one runs an MR Luke Skywalker ROTJ soundboard driving a Luxeon III green led, uses 4-AA batteries and can be used to recharge NiMH rechargeable batteries using the adaptor wire and the smart charger in the store. Blade is a 1" thin-walled internally sanded polycarbonate tube that has about 8 feet of clear polypropylene wrapped up inside.

Well here's the first design for a lightspear. I used industrial heatshrink with some o-rings underneath to provide some grip areas and a little more style. 8) It measures just over 6 feet in length with a 20" blade. The top can break apart from the shaft to give a walking staff and a shortsword about the length of a wakazashi. This is done simply by removing a thumbscrew. I will provide a chrome end cap to cap off the saber. It houses a white K2 LED and just has a yellow Lee filter on it. I also put a rubber tip on the butt end so it's good for use as a walking staff as well. All pics are under direct overhead lighting.

My take on an Obi-Wan styled lightsaber. Envisioned as possibly a saber to bridge the gap between his elegant prequel TPM hilt and his classic OT hilt.
Don't mind the saber on the right, it was my original attempt at an Obi-Wan styled hilt.

This was my very first saber I ever built, and it's still one of my favorites. It's almost 10 years old now. All PVC, Sink tube, and hardware parts, with a few tid bits from a C-17 thrown in for good measure. I made this using only a drill, a hacksaw, and a half-round file.

This one runs an Anakin Skywalker ROTS soundboard, Luxeon III red led with a 5 deg. lens, uses 4-AAA batteries and can be made to be in-the-hilt rechargeable. It is scratched, scuffed, worn, and burned on purpose to make it look old and used, but exactly "ancient." The blade is internally sanded, and uses about 6 feet of cellophane gift wrap for a Dual-Core Diffusion type blade.

Another handle I've had for awhile. Its a vintage Heiland flash (that's a bit beaten up, it has a few light scratches here and there.) with a chrome shroud. I thought I'd put it in here since its not a replica of a certain saber but more of a custom influenced by several replica sabers.
Since its slightly beaten up I envisioned it as being a Rogue Jedi's saber thats been modified over the years, such as the rivets to keep the grips on.
The blade holder is from the graflex shop, it has a green Seoul P4 powered by a MR Luke ROTJ sound board with 4 AAA batteries. The switch is mounted on the clamp, you can see it on the fifth photo.

Okay, I figured I should finally post this.
Hasbro Obi sound card, Luxeon K2 with a BuckPuck (was originally red, but my son didn't like being a Sith), plumbing parts, homemade blade and holder, and blade film and blade ends from TCSS. I built most of this before I discovered TCSS, including getting K2's from Canada, bare stars from Taiwan, heatsinks from New Hampshire, polycarbonate tube from Ohio, hours on a drill press making a blade holder from nylon bushings, and an Obi-Wan Force Unleashed for the sound card from Target. Clearly, I went about this one the wrong way ;)
I wound copper wire into the threads on the drain bezel emitter and used a nylon washer instead of a rubber one for the slip joint.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/2858722000_2f7c7423e2_o.jpg
I used nylon set screws for the blade holder, which glow (as does the nylon slip joint) when the LED is turned on.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3081/2857892467_6ec592955b_o.jpg
The start to my next one that will rely heavily on TCSS internals. It's another sink tube, but trimed to give a Yoda emitter look. I built the clamp from sheet aluminum, a toggle bolt, the edge connector from an old PC sound card, and a steel key (like a Woodruff key, but rectangular).

I still have a few modifications to make to the finished one. Such as internal spacing issues to fit in the recharge port that just didn't want to go in.
The next one I 'm going to try to fit in all the bells and whistles.

That's not a really new one, but I've upgraded Telum Infensus with a 10W Led Engin (thanks mad hatter). I also decided that it was time for me to own a real demo kit for my sabers, including wireless sounds with my omnisabers system.
I therefore include the wireless system in the saber so that it can have in-the-hilt sound AND wireless sound. Depending on your taste, habits and use, you can get both sounds, just in the hilt, or just wireless, thanks to the mute settings of CF.
I've also reworked the omnisaber software so that it plays also both force fx sounds (force + force clash) and multiple blaster sounds. I have further ideas for this system that is developping gently, mainly used by professionnal sword teachers and stage combat professionnals.
http://www.plecterlabs.com/images/gallery/TelumInfensusUpgrade004.jpg
The wireless link is indicated in the speaker chamber by a smd green LED (very discrete but very efficient).

Summary of projects on the bench right now:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02587.jpg
Group shot. That's a whole lot of sabers right there. None of them is anywhere close to being done. Sometimes it seems like I am Sisyphus...never getting that boulder up the mountain.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02589.jpg
Graflex project. 18 months in the making. No closer to done than it was 18 months ago. Gah!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02590.jpg
Brass saber project. I'm up against a wall on this one. I'm losing motivation to finish this one.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02591.jpg
Prototype of one of the limited run of sabers for 2009. Lots left to do, but it's turning out nice.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02592.jpg
MHS saber for this Halloween. I don't really like it, so it'll go up for sale in November. Meh...
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02593.jpg
Antique camera flash to be turned into short stunt saber. Maybe room for a buckpuck and a 9v alkaline battery. Still, might be cool.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02594.jpg
MHS Obi-Wan project. I've built over a dozen in various form through the years. This one is for ME. Not sure what to do with it. No electronics chosen yet. Decisions, decisions...
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02581.jpg
Latest saber built for a customer. Pretty simple. Easy shroud work, MHS parts. MRFX electronics. Lux III green.
This is an addendum to my post last night. The MHS Mara Jade I am working on. This will be the next saber I complete:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02601.jpg
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02598.jpg
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02600.jpg
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/DSC02599.jpg
Overall, it is very nearly complete. However, I have LOADS of details to look after in order to bring this up to the level I want. It will house a MRFX soundboard and a Seoul P4. I had contemplated using one of my USB for it, but I set this saber up for a latching switch, so using the USB would have me cycling the switch ON-OFF in order to operate it. That might be a pain in the butt.

Here are pics of saber hilts I have made that I have installed Luxeons LEDs in. All of them are using Luxeon III LEDs. None of them have sound, driver boards, buckpucks or recharge ports. After about 5 months i've finished my first LED saber.
This bad boy is sporting an overdriven Royal Blue LuxV with a 3/4" thick walled blade. I made this from some extra Graflex, Parks Sabers, and 27-pin Cannon Connector parts that i had from some other stunt saber projects.

I'm calling this one a Light Dagger.
The handle is made from an otoscope. That's the thingy the doctor uses to look in your ears. I found it in a box of junk, missing the head part, and thought I'd try to make a mini-saber out of it.
It's got a green Lux I, running on a 350mA micro puck, powered by 2AAA batteries. The blade was a 3/4" EL blade I got in a grab bag last fall. I pulled out the EL wire, and put in a double wrap of Corbin film, and some cellophane gift wrap.
This is what it looked like before I took it apart.
http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff102/dar4jc/100_1523.jpg
And here it is converted. I tried not to alter the outer appearance any more than I had to.
http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff102/dar4jc/100_1579.jpg
The only switch I had that was small enough was this little toggle, and the only place I could put it was in the pommel.
http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff102/dar4jc/100_1580.jpg
Here's a shot to show you the size of it. About 5 1/2". There's 21" of blade showing.
http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff102/dar4jc/100_1588.jpg
Here it is, lit and unlit. (With flash.)

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff102/dar4jc/100_1583.jpg
I popped a green K2 in Enigma to show scale and relative brightness. Of course, it's not as bright, but it still lights up pretty good.

Here's one I am working on. Waiting for electronics, but the majority of the build is done thus far. It's a synthesis of a bunch of different elements I like. There's a bit of Starkiller, a bit of my forked brass saber, a bit of others as well.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/th_DSC04083.jpg (http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/?action=view¤t=DSC04083.jpg)

Here's a couple of days later.
Planned electronics will be a Joe Jedi MR board and a buckpuck driving a Cyan Lux III. There will be a cool looking crystal chamber and vibrating motor as well. Planning on a 4AAA alkaline battery system in this one. There will be a few more additions to the saber before it's completed, but It's turning out nice so far, I think.

my first completed LED lightsaber. this used to be an EL saber i bought about 4-5 years ago from tcss. this is all sink tube/plumbing supply with the exception of Tim's 1.25" blade holder and the pommel was originally part of the EL saber. the ring at the base of the shroud, behind the activation button, was part of a gutted sink faucet aerator. i got to use a bit of dremel-fu on the shroud to create a U-channel to show off the retention bolts, plus it has a quick-disconnect right below the heatsink for future LED color changes. the grip is made from 1" rubber washers removed from pvc couplings with a few O-rings slid into the grooves between them. this design is based around a 1.25" sink tube with 1.5" overlay/extension tubes for a shroud and lower handle. as this is my 1st try there's no sound, just wanted to get the thing to ignite ;)

This is my first post here, and my very first saber. All sink pipe, using a pop-up sink drain and an extension tube. It has no electronics, but my next ones will most definitely.
Pics are a little large... My bad...

So here it is my new super model girlfriend. ;D
This is one top shelf Lightsaber. It's built for use and to look purdy.
Specs:
Hilt = 10 of 10 Jon Judge made Starkiller.
Engine = CF4.2
POwer = 2 x 14500
Led = Xwing BBW
I originally had planed to put a US2.5 in this, however when it arrived it was clear to me that it need a CF. The build for me was a difficulty level of 8 out of 10 for me. I might have been because I had the flu while I was doing it but I will never know for sure. The first install went nice until I realized I missed a 1 on one of the parameters in one of my CF bank files. That cause a down ward spiral that never ended that night. That one mistake ended up causing me 3 more mistakes with each mistake causing me to completely uninstall every thing and reinstall. Fortunately I woke up this morning feeling better and got her him finished up.
The saber is very solid and well built which is beautifully offset by hoe light it is. With everything installed it weighs 1lb 3oz. All the fine details are there. Nothing but a staler hilt build.

ok some pics of Fury V2 for you guys, she's running on a tri lux with a green, green, white setup, the white LED kicks in when she clashes, you use blaster block etc etc
overall I am really pleased with her, the balance is perfect, the weight is really light, best of all she is running on a crystal focus 4.1, powered by a 6AAA 7.2V 1000mAh Pack, the LED's in the clamp are held in place by a custom machined metal sheet that keeps them all nice and well spaced, the top LED (blue one) is the aux button, the bottom red led is the power button, really sweet setup and lots of fun, really loud as well :D

After much quiet research of the forums, have produced this. Using MR Yoda guts and a P4. Would love some opinions. Prefer a brighter blade for display I think, so am currently working on an LED string saber.

It's running a Seoul P4 white from a 4xAAA rechargeable pack. I originally used a resistor but after melting the top of the battery pack I decided to go with a 1000 mA constant current driver. I wired the recharge port directly to the battery pack and driver and use it as an on-off switch as well as recharge port.

I have no complaints about how this saber turned out. While it was definitely a challenge to construct, and even more a challenge to wire up, the end result far outweighs the struggles.

From every angle, this saber has something to show off. From the multiple layers to the menacing forked emitter, to the crystal chamber - something to see any way you look at it.

Once I had a firm plan and a direction, I had to balance trying to look "good" with looking "right". It wasn't enough for the saber to have neat whiz-bang features or to have shrouds exemplifying Dremel-Fu...everything had to somehow flow together and be balanced. Not an easy task.

While the saber is great to look at when it is off, it's when the power is thrown when the saber really shines (pardon the unintentional pun).
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/Curved%20Sith/IMG_4699.jpg
The crystal chamber is extremely bright. Coupled as close as it is to the main LED heatsink, it casts its light in such a way to make the whole area glow with "energy". Unforeseen, but a welcomed surprise.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/Curved%20Sith/IMG_4700.jpg
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/sixmilliondollarman/Curved%20Sith/IMG_4701.jpg
Taking it all in through these final shots, it really is something to behold (and be held...another pun - sorry).
Curved sabers are notoriously difficult to build. As the last of my spare parts in the shop are now gone, this saber is the culmination of a lot of hours, lots of coffee consumed, lots of bad 80's hair-band music listened to. I hope you like it as much as I do. Want to see a video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeMhHYVIGMU
The finish on the saber is particularly interesting to me. I did not want to "weather" the saber, but I knew that making the saber in an AFBB configuration was not possible (raw aluminum tubing is usually scratched pretty badly from the supplier). Even through all the laborious wet-sanding and polishing with high-speed buffer and compound, the imperfections in the base materials still show through somewhat. Taken together with the handling of the base hilt that occurred during assembly, the saber has a look that I liken to a weapon that has seen use, but has been well cared for and well maintained...like a military-issued weapon. Slight discoloration here or there, a few scratches here or there, a nick of paint...all add up to a more realistic look than if the saber were built to look like a perfect model rather than a functional piece of sci-fi weaponry.

Here's a saber I recently finished up. The base is a section of 1.25" OD aluminum tubing, with a TCSS 1.25' sinktube blade holder (modified) fitted to it. LED is a Luxeon III R/O bought here at TCSS. Sound comes from an Ultrasound 2.1, and power is provided by a 4AAA battery holder bought here at TCSS.
The sculpted part of the hilt is made from a high-strength epoxy compound, that was finished by hand with various hand tools to shape it; then dyed, stained, washed and dry-brushed to give the surface finish you see.

My first saber! Inspired by novastars basic saber video on you tube!
hilt is a 1.5'' sink tube lux III red li 2400mah batt ran straight to the LED
i used a lot of electric tape both inside and out, as you can see its obvious. bought a pre assembled blade from TCSS the pommel is still a work in progress the holder is also TCSS the button is actually a cheapy on that you hold and is completely covered by the tape.
I forgot optics though! I thought I wouldn't need them but as you can see the blade is week. I have just ordered it from TCSS.

It's made mostly of MHS parts which I have customized somewhat. Powdercoated Dark Chrome. AND IT HAS A FAKE BONE HANDLE! I call it Krayt Bone.
Krayt Dragon being a fake animal - and the bone in the handle also being fake - it seems reasonable.
It also has...
- Red Lux 3
- Premium speaker
- Red SMD bar-graph with amber low batt LED
- Rumble motor
- 7.4 Li-Ion battery pack
- 2.1 mm recharge port
- powdercoated red buttons and kill key
- 6 sound fonts including my new "Korriban" dark side font.
And the video...

I found a pretty cool looking piece at a camera shop. So I used it for my pommel.

I ended up with a simple design to cut out of the sinktube.

I havn't posted here much lately... but this saber gave me a new appreciation for the MHS double male peice with open slots - it's awesome.
This is a custom saber I designed for a return client who wanted something unique and weather worn, that incorporated imagery from my Raxus saber and a little Graflex flair.
Saber contains:
- LedEngin 10 w RGGB LED wired for Flash on Clash
- 7.4 volt Li-ion battery pack
- Tibetan quartz crystal set in a chamber and lit with a 5mm green LED
- Amber SMD bargraph
- Rumble motor
*Thanks to Fenderbender for advice on the LedEngin setup for FOC

A modified park saber:
when I received it:
http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/11/79/67/37/p1070024.jpg
Here is the first change
before:
http://i79.servimg.com/u/f79/11/79/67/37/p1070012.jpg
after:
http://i79.servimg.com/u/f79/11/79/67/37/p1070011.jpg
I have added a carbon tube on the aluminium colored part.
I have taken the brasss bolt on the pommel, polished it, and put it on the controx box,for blade lengh ajustment.
I have modifed the control box:from simple molded alloy profile I have made something real, with polish, bevels, etc
I have polished some black parts to give solid shape to the hilt.
I have some other changes to do,especially on the emitter,to reduce the claws, and give emitter a true soft shape, instead of simple cut aluminium profiles.
And here is my first home made custom hilt:
http://i79.servimg.com/u/f79/11/79/67/37/p1070013.jpg
On the pic we can see the hilt, made from titanium and carbon fiber(would represent phrik hilt and cortosis shield for the cell and crystal chamber)
Here the saber hilt is not yet finished,I have to sand carbon and titanium.
There is a emitter shield too,was the very first work for me....

Hi Everybody,
Just wanted to show off my new SWTOR style lightsaber. Im very happy with the way the crystal chamber is coming along. This will be part of my SWTOR jedi armour costume, which I will be showing pictures of the build as it comes along. I will also add pictures of the saber when it is fully completed.

My first build ever, be gentle.
I call it Vindicator. Its a combination of TCSS parts and ultrasabers mhs parts. I had to mix and match a bit to get the length i wanted, its just under 11 inches.
It has a p4 green led in it, and considering i havent done any electronics work in literally 10 years, i used a novasound board that i grabbed on ebay for 50$, since i didnt want to risk frying a higher end board by doing somthing stupid.
For the paint I used a krylon gloss paint, multiple very very fine coats, and finishing it off with a matte clearcoat. It ended up giving it a nice texture in the hands without rubbing off, or rubbing the skin raw while dueling.
No chassis system, and the pictures were actually taken before i installed the electronics. I managed to cram everything in there pretty good, there is no rattle or wobble of any kind.
The grips, were actually a foot long strip of grip from the tcss site that i snagged and then cut into 2.5inch lengths, trimmed down the corners and sanded them. I thought it gived the hilt itself and the emitter an interesting look.

This is my new light saber and my first saber build. It is running a Petit Crouton V3 with the Color Xtender a Cree XPE RGB LED. This light saber was pattern off the William Wallace Sword from Brave Heart. It looks plane and clean more as it should be used and not for displayed which is the reason for the look.

PS I am still working on the fine tuning as the hilt is so long as you can see in the photos! it is a two handed saber!
