The circles were made black by a Sharpie, and I used Electrical tape on the emitter, but it doesn't look too bad.

Anakin MR Fx to luxeon conversion. Blue Lux III, Crystal Focus electronics, 4 AA nimh 2500 mAh batt pack. Recharge port just behind the pommel, with easy access to SD card. Custom machined blade mount. I actually made 2 sabers. One with in-the-hilt sound, the other with switchable in-the-hilt or wireless sound, just by changing the a part of the pommel. The blaster blocking aux button (or blade lockup) was integrated in the activator PCB. Works for left or right handed Jedis :roll: . Stock MR switch was used. Next to it, a little hole to see the low batt LED hidden in the activator.

This is my modified Anakin ROTS. The stock copper buttons and bezels have been replaced with The red buttons from a Luke ESB FX (Compliments of Xwingband). Bunny ears have been removed and a TCSS Conversion kit with a green Lux III was used. It currently has Thick-Walled Ultrablade.

Here is my Red Mace Windu Luxeon conversion. I got the kit last night and had the saber up and running within 3 hours. I have cellophane wrap in the blade, but no diffuser film yet. I'll add that later and it might make the lighting more even.

Note, I removed the rubber strips from the grip. They just make that saber too thick IMO. Next to my new Red Windu is a Luke Skywalker MR.

Well I finally got round to finishing of all my MR conversions so here they are. Because there are so many pic I’ve put each one in a different post.

Darth Vader ESB

My first ever MR conversion. I got the hilt from one of the scratch and dent auctions at the start of the year and bought the conversion kit at the same time. Red 3w luxeon with a TCSS blade.

Wasn’t too bad to convert, the only problem was the tiny little pin that holds the bigger pin in the activation box. I was messing with it for about an hour before it came out.

This started out as a Vader ESB but I converted it into an Anakin AOTC style. Chrome shroud, vader coversion kit, Royal blue 3w luxeon and stoke MR blade.

This was just a total &*@*$% to convert. First the small pin wouldn’t come out, I ended up having to cut it to remove the bigger pin. Next I couldn’t get the blade and electronics out the hilt, they got stuck and I spent several hours hitting it of the ground to get it out. I ended up using some WD40. (I don’t know if you have it in the states but it’s a multi-purpose spray that cleans, protects, penetrates, lubricates and displaces moisture. Wow, starting to sound like an advert here. Anyway.) That worked and it all just slipped out. After that everything was taken apart, soldered and put back together within an hour.

For the chrome shroud I had to file down both the inside of the shroud and the outside if the hilt for it to fit. I got it to the point where it was just going on and no more. I put it on and had to hit it to get it on properly, so I smacked it a couple of times on the ground and got it in place but it cracked! I couldn’t believe it. I doubt it will come of now so it will just have to stay on there. You can see it in the pics.

The other conversions where much easier and I got the rest all done in 2 days.

Got his done in an hour or so. Anakin conversion kit with Royal blue 3w luxeon and stock MR blade. It also has the Graflex button thumbscrew from the store but I replaced the red part with the copper part from the original Anakin button. It makes it look more stock.

Mace Windu

Mace Windu conversion kit with Seoul P4 white + lee filter and stock MR blade. Wired up just like the tutorial says. This is the best looking purple blade I’ve got, I have both a 3w and a K2 and neither of them compare. I also drilled through the rest of the holes in the emmiter, I think this makes it look better. The light comes through them.

Ok some more MR conversations for you.

First an Anakin ROTS with a little difference. This is how I think Anakin’s saber would have looked like if he had beaten Obi Wan on Mustafar. He would have replaced the blue crystal with a red one and probably done a bit of cosmetic changes to make it look more darker/sith like.

So here it is, TCSS MR Anakin blade holder with a red 3w luxeon. I painted the center band black and weathered the gold parts on the control box.

It has now been converted with a TCSS Luke blade holder. I also decide to turn it into a V2 but as first built (no weathering). I prefer it this way plus I know I would never be happy with the way the weathering would come out, I’m too much of a perfectionist.

Heres what I did. I removed the copper paint from the neck section and painted it and the lower section of the hilt black. I replaced the control box with a clamp from a Luke ESB hilt. Since the new clamp doesn’t have a switch I mounted one from a Luke ANH in it, just like what I did on my Obi Wan MHS saber. I drilled and taped holes for the cone knob and fillister screw then mounted them. Then lastly I replaced the triangle ring with a D ring. I also polished it a bit so it would be more shiny! It has a green 3w luxeon.

Here is a Mace Windu MR hilt with a Crystal chamber

First, I sanded off all of the "Gold" and painted the pieces flat black. Next, I created a crystal chamber with a sliding internal shroud . The LED's are driven in parallel by the MR board and the crystal chamber is seated into the MR cradle. Blade LED is a Bin1 Cyan Lux III. Crystal chamber LED is from a MR strip and is epoxied inside of a green acrylic TCSS crystal. MR blade holder is a TCSS kit.

This is a Hasbro Fx Conversion to a Graflex ANH replica.

It has a Replica bubble strip, Graflex screw, Glass eye and a conversion kit from TCSS with black epoxy accents and a blue Seoul P4. It has the other "classic" features of my anakin conversions (PVC spacer, etc.)

I just converted my MR Anakin ROTS to a CREE LED. I made the blade/LED holder and heat sink myself. It has the original sound card and a CREE blue LED. I was able to figure out the wiring by a wiring diagram on this forum. (Thanks Guys).

Here is a quickie. Darth Morbius sent me a Yoda board (it was still in the hilt). We all know I can't waste anything so, I made my daughter her first personal saber from it (Birthday present you know!). She has always wanted a purple saber, so this is it! It does not (of course) come across in the pix, but it is a very nice purple.

This is an MR Mace Windu converted with a TCSS kit. The special thing about it is it uses a 3W RGB color mixed to have a bright Violet/Purple blade without filters!

An MR Luke ANH stunt I gotten from Jay-Gon Jinn, with a few of my own personal touches. The previous owner that JGJ got it from seemingly abused it so there are scratches all around the hilt but that just adds more character! The D-ring was also repaired among other things.

The blade JGJ used is the original MR blade that has been upgraded by him with several feet of polypropylene. Makes the blade more evenly lit.

Things I tweaked on it was I replaced the plastic red button screw and plastic glass eye screw with the replica metal versions from the store, tweaked the switch so it takes a bit more pressure to move, and the trademarks are gone.

Here is a True Purple LED MR Mace Windu Conversion.

It has a TCSS Aluminum blade holder and a 3W RGB appropriately fine tuned for a perfect purple. It is a mildly used saber but it is in good (very good for a Mace) shape. The gold is still ~90% intact and there are no other defects.

So I wanted to cut my teeth with a zero cost Mod of my DM MR UFX saber. I always liked the look of the double hilt with only a single blade exposed.

I refitted the parred-down, blade less LED strip and capped it off with the focus crystal assembly from the pommel. I also stabilized the Mod with some of the foam from inside the original blade.

I had so much fun and now I am ready for my next saber project.

It's been a long time I wanted to make a Luxeon Yoda Saber.
This small hilt was also a nice challenge to fit batteries, CF and speaker.
Also, I wanted to keep the stock green "indicators" that are fake on the MR version, and turn them into functionnal light-up switches for controlling the CF board.

Monolithic PCV chassis for the (home made) 14500 li-ion battery pack, speaker and board. Overdriven green luxeon V, invisible recharge port, rumbling motor, Crystal Focus 4.31 and custom light-up tactile switches for the blade activation and auxiliary button.

My work started with the modification of the green plastic inserts / bubbles / lenses to make the light-up tactile switches.

I worked on a little emitter plug. I've PCed the part, not that bad, then weathered it a little since I though that's where the saber can get slightly worn out because of the blade energy.

Hello all...I have just finished my first LED saber. I converted my MR FX Anakin to a Seoul P4 Blue. However, it was not a standard conversion. I am going to be doing some choreography routines with it and a common problem was that the MR FX would always turn off unintentionally and the activation box on the 'clamp' would always get in the way and hurts my hands. So I replaced the stock switch with a different one and made the activation box removable. The switch is hidden under the activation box. Also, my MR FX speaker was blown so I put in a TCSS speaker and modified the chassis to hold the new switch and create a resonance chamber for the speaker. Here is a link to all the pics:

When I met Darth Scythe on Thursday, he saw the TruPurple Saber "Gladius V2" and just happened to have a stock MR Mace in his trunk...Well, I have some large projects on the bench, but they all need powder coating and it has been raining like crazy here, so he happened to luck waaaay out and get bounced to the front of the line! He had a special request that the emitter ring have the holes machined out so the light shines through and it was a good idea because it is sweeeeet! As with all color mixed LEDs, this one looks best with a regular Ultra-style blade.

***note- the blade set screw is in the last picture and takes a 1.5mm Allen wrench***

This is a conversion I did for someone who wanted 1) the ability to switch blade color between red and blue, and 2) an on/off switch that would not be triggered accidentally during spins. I also converted it to a rechargeable set-up, using two 14500 3.7V li-ions (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/TrustFire-Protected-37V-900mAh-14500-Lithium-Battery-2-Pack-P342.aspx), a 5-volt voltage regulator (7805), a charge port (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/21mm-Power-Jack-P37.aspx), and a recharger (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/37V-148V-Li-Ion-Smart-charger--P129.aspx). (Don't forget the 2.1mm plug adapter (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/21mm-plug-adapter-for-smart-charger-P36.aspx).)

For the accident-proof on/off switch, I used a guarded SPST latching switch (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SPST-Latching-Guarded-switch-with-red-button-P256.aspx), and for the color-changing switch, I used a vandal-proof DPDT illuminated latching switch (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/DPDT-Latching-blue-illuminated-switch-P435.aspx). The blade-retention thumbscrew (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/10-32-x-1332-Thumb-Screw--P180.aspx) is one I powder-coated in candy red.

For the main LED, I used a LedEngin RGBA (LZ4-20MA10). I could have gotten brighter results if I used a relay set-up, but the two latching switches didn't leave much room for a relay and one or two hefty 5-Watt resistors. I decided it was bright enough as it is.

Here is a Darth Vader ANH that I converted. The box it came in said it was an ESB but the picture on the box and the saber inside is an ANH saber. I used the conversion kit from TCSS and had to modify the plastic part between the sound card section and the blade holder to fit the conversion kit. I am using a red P4 LED. Here's one I did for a guy over here in Japan. He wanted his Anakin ROTS to be black with a red blade, so I powder-coated the main hilt in glossy black and the aluminum band around the control box in matte black. He wanted a 3/4" blade. Turned out pretty cool, if I may say so myself.

Interesting that my first conversions were these two sabers. I originally bought these sabers on clearance at a local store almost two years ago. I got them for their soundboards, gutted them, put the boards in my custom projects and put the empties on my shelf. Now, being summer and bored I was looking around at my spare parts and realized I had enough to re-make these sabers into conversions. So I got the kits and boom!

Pinkstarbuck (An xmas gift to my fiancee)
MR Yoda base with grips replaced with a handmade hot pink leather grip, clamp replaced with a modified Joe Jedi clamp & sliding switch replaced with a latching pushbutton switch. Stock shroud hand cut, filed & polished to resemble rams horns (like me she's an Aries). Luxeon 3W RGB wired & resistored for a hot pink blade in an anodised TCSS Yoda kit.

This is a Luke ROTJ I found pretty badly damaged at a thrift store for $6. The hilt was empty with a battery pack, this pretty much got me into saber building, as I found it and knew it was special. Thanks to everyone on the forum for giving me advice!

My converted 2007 MR Luke ANH saber. Custom saber shop was nice enough to send me a prototype conversion kit when I realized the Anakin one I ordered didn't fit. I'm pretty proud of it, though I'm still missing the "button" on the reverse side of the saber. (I got the display model from sharper image and it never had it.)
