I built this one for my daughter to use with her Jedi Padawan outfit when she dresses up with me for the charity events we do with the local 501st and Rebel Legions.

Actually, I really just put it together, Airsoftmode, or Saberforge actually made the hilt and I did the brass sleeve and assembly. So, here's how it turned out:

I'm not wild about the switch, as it looks out of place on this one....it is one that I modified over at FX-Sabers.com to install a mini-tactile momentary into the original click on/off switch. It works, and I haven't had the board lock up too much on me, but it just doesn't look good. I have a new bezel nut ordered, we'll see what it looks like with one of those on it instead of the plastic one. I might try to modify one of my metal push buttons in a similar fashion and use one of those instead.

Power is supplied from two Li-ion Trustfire batteries from the store here at TCSS, as well as the battery holder, and recharge port. Sound and light are provided by an Ultrasound 2.0, and the led is, I believe, a Seoul P4 white. I added a filter to the lens to get the color she desired:

The blade is one of my Dual-Core Diffusion types, and is 36" in length.

I've gotta know where to find those brass pipes! You make all your sabers look so nice with them. Are they decromed or did they come that way?

A great way to personalise and customise that hilt. I'm sure your daughter will love it.

I get them already polished brass from here:

http://www.signaturehardware.com/class307

You will have to any hilt parts that will fit inside machined to 1.43" to fit them though, as they are commercial grade and 20 ga. rather than the 22 ga. the MHS parts are designed to fit.

It's not the placement that I'm not thrilled with, it's how it looks that I don't like...the black plastic just looks out of place on it.

well imo the placement bothers me.....then again im picky about my switches postions.........................

Well, it's a good thing it's not for you, then!

It's actually right between the hands if you use a double handed grip style like she does....

Great work as always Jay, youve inspired me to try some steampunkish stuff. My lowes was running clearance on all the polished brass tubes and the raw brass tubes, plus my holiday discount, so I bought them out, now I have to doodle some templates, already have the MHS built on one of them. Shes a lucky girl!

Bad thing is, she's not really that into it...she said "that's cool....." and left it at that! She's just humoring me, I guess!

unconditional love man, whether she truely appreciates it now or not, there will be a day, in the yearbook office, or a gencon waiting line or about to read her first line in a tv show where shell think back and say, I was the luckiest kid ever.... or shell be sitting on the supreme court bench saying, god I hope the tabloids dont find any pics of that =P

Small update on this one:

I finally got around to putting the switch bezel nut from the store on the switch! This looks much better:

I was going to comment, after looking through the beginning of the thread, that it'd look better with a shorter stalk and one of tim's bezel nuts...

And I was right! It does look alot better with Tim's bezel. Though, tbh, I still think that the switch stalk is rather...tall. I think it'd be even better if you used a momentary from the store, or further modified your switch so that the stalk is about "normal" height (compared to the switches Tim sells).

Great work as always with your overlays!

Great looking saber Jay. Are you using the recharge port as a recharge port or just a kill port. In one of you earlier post I remember you saying that you thought that the spring in the holder would damage the circuit board on the batteries if you left them in for too long. I was just wondering if you had changed your mind, because I was thinking about a rechargeable Trustfire setup.

Necro post for a little update to this one!!

I finally broke down and decided to change out the gawd-awful switch on this one, and make a few other improvements while I was at it:

New, Updated version of BS-11:

I changed the activation button to the new gold plated version sold here in the store, swapped the white K2 out for a green Lux III, and then sanded and polished the aluminum sections of the hilt. It still uses the Ultrasound 2.1 and the protected Trustire Li-Ion batteries and a 2.1mm re-charge port.

Much nicer looking switch, Jay. It fits the look of the saber so much better.

I did notice it looked shinier, before I saw that you said you'd polished it. ;)

Nice update. :)

Has your daughter grown out of her pink phase? :p

Is that why you changed the blade color--because she isn't going to be using it anymore? That's such a great looking saber; one of my favorites of yours.

Partly. The Luxeon K2 drains the batteries faster than the Luxeon III green will.

I tried Trick-or-Treating for the last time when I was 14. Half the houses turned us away without giving us (my 2 girlfriends and I) any candy because we were too old.

You're never too old to go out!

It just gets a little creepier every year...

As soon as you can look over the kids in front of you, you know its time to stop trick-r-treating and start going to halloween parties with friends. If there are any. And if you have friends :)

Back on topic, its a really nice saber. She is lucky, wether she realises it or not.

Anyway, KUTGW!

And thus is explained why my brother and I did nothing on Halloween - neither of us have any friends in the area, and nor are we the bar/club type.

Still envious of your ability to bend brass tubing to your will, Jay.
