Do you do any custom saber shrouds? I won't be needing it for a while, but next hilt, I may use one, and no way can I do it myself - my skills (if you can call it that) with a dremel is...whats the word? NONEXISTENT. I haven't got a design in mind yet, but if you do them, what kind of info is needed?

For custom inqueries, and the fastest response, please email Tim:

Never worry about "bugging" a small business owner about his business!;)

Thanks for resurrecting a dead thread and then posting absolutely nothing relevant. What's with the four links in your post? Spam?

I'm thinking hataish is a spambot...but why would anyone wanna spam TCSS' forums?

So basically, Tim WILL do custom work if you ask him? I was wondering about that, since my design is mostly stock parts, but ideally I would like a completely custom emitter.

The only custom work Tim will do is to modify stock MHS parts.

Is there anyone willing to make Sink tube shrouds for the dremmel-fu challenged individuals?

There is probably any number of people who would do it. But "General Store Questions and Answers" is not the best place to ask. In fact, TCSS forums are probably not the best place to ask, since these are Tim's forums and you would basically being trying to commission someone other than Tim to do a job. ;)

How much modification are we talking about? Like, if I wanted to add an extra half inch to a particular blade emitter?

Does Tim make all the MHS parts himself in his shop, or are they manufactured someplace else?

taking a standard piece and modding it like maching it down, not extending it.

Jedi-Loreen

Tim does not make the MHS pieces, he has machinists who do that.

And do not ask for their names, if you were thinking of doing that. ;)

So I didn't think that would technically be a competive commision

No, I wasn't thinking about doing that. But when my funding comes next month, I'm going to give concrete specifications to Tim and see what he can do. I'm not going to give him the runaround when he and TCSS make all this lightsaber awesomeness possible for people like me.

It's not.

If what you have in mind is something that can be done by machining down a stock MHS piece, it's quite possible.

with a lathe and a creative mind. anything is possible. theres just stuff you cant to do with a Lathe that you can do with a CNC. and i believe Tim uses all CNC. So ya he basically can make anything as long as it relates to the MHS. I believe. this is to my knowledge. it does cost a pretty penny though

Actually, Tim's custom work has always been very reasonable when I've had something I needed done. Be sure to try to supply him with a good graphic example of what you want to have done. That goes further than trying to just describe it in text.

I recently asked Tim to make a custom emitter, but he told me he now only does modifications of stock MHS pieces. And since I'm sure someone's going to ask what a CNC is, here's a Wikipedia link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNC). ;)

CNC is computer numerical control. basically a computer controlled lathe. thats alot simplier then lookin up and going through all the wiki-poop. i was thinking about makin an emmiter my self to fit on an MHS. looks kinda hard

He's done some custom pieces before, but I think I remember a post late last year (thanksgiving ish?) where he said he was going to only be modifing pieces until further notice.
